'What is she doing here?'
She desperately wanted to know, but her marriage to Silas Thorne was a secret. It wouldn't be appropriate for her to rush downstairs. She sat on the edge of the bed, with no appetite to eat and no mood to sleep.
Silas Thorne had been in the backyard with his grandfather and only came to the front hall after being informed of a visitor.
