Joyce Monroe recalled a similar situation from before. Back then, Silas Thorne had said a few hugs and kisses would do the trick, so she placed the glass in her hand on the counter to her side.
She reached out and gently hugged Silas Thorne.
Silas Thorne's body tensed slightly as he felt her arms wrap around his waist. Perhaps sensing his lack of response, and considering how much he had to drink, Joyce Monroe began patting his back gently, as if coaxing a child.
She looked up at him. "Silas, do you feel a little better?"
"I don't."
Joyce Monroe furrowed her brow. 'Last time, a simple hug was all it took to placate him. Has that trick stopped working?'
Silas Thorne slowly leaned in, his hot breath fanning across her face and sending a heart-pounding shiver through her. His characteristic coolness enveloped her, appearing particularly dangerous in the dim light of the hotel room.
