The New Year's Eve concert began promptly at 8:30 PM. With a melodious and lively symphony playing, the new year was only a few hours away. The entire event was broadcast live on television.
At the Monroe residence, the TV was playing the opera channel the grandmother loved, but Preston Monroe had already switched to the music station, waiting for his daughter to come on.
"That's my girl. So beautiful," Preston Monroe chuckled.
"Dad, can we change the channel? This is so boring," Leo Monroe sighed. "Besides, you don't even usually listen to this kind of music."
"If you don't like it, scram and go study."
"My break just started."
"What was your score on your last monthly exam? Your class rank?"

Leo Monroe pouted, not daring to say another word. Eve Hughes came to his rescue with a smile. "He just got a break, let him rest. It's not like his grades are going to improve in a day or two anyway."
