"Thank goodness Liang He is finally back. If she hadn't returned soon, I would have thought all those wonderful days we had recently were just a dream."
The colleagues in the central control room were the first to spot Liang He and her group on the surveillance monitors.
Ever since Liang He had left the reserve in the middle of the night, Cedriel and Lanton had essentially vanished from the control room's monitors, as if they had reverted to their lives before meeting her. Only at night would they return to the service area. They would drag the blanket, which was full of Liang He's scent, to the doorway and lay on it listlessly. Squinting their eyes, they sniffed the lingering fragrance, as if waiting for her return.
"Tell me about it. Seeing the Marshal and the Commander waiting so miserably for Liang He every night makes my heart ache," one of them said.
