They had once lived in a house they built themselves. While this new place wasn't as spacious, it was more than enough to be a cozy home. The two children looked around timidly, their eyes filled with apprehension.
The woman crouched down and stroked their heads. "Now that we're in our new home, how about we all keep sleeping in the same bed with Mommy and Daddy?"
The children nodded in happy surprise. The four of them would be a bit cramped in a double bed, but they would feel much more secure.
When it was time to eat, Aunt Xiao came over and asked if they wanted to join everyone else or if she should bring their meals to them.
The woman rose self-consciously, offering to get the food herself, but Aunt Xiao waved her off.
"Right now, you're two injured adults with two children, so it's my job to look after you. Once you've recovered, you'll be expected to work. I'll give you some forms tomorrow to fill out with your information."
