Seraphina Quinn's face went pale. The fingers hanging by her sides clenched tighter and tighter, until a crisp CRACK echoed from her knuckles. Only then did she release her grip.
She raised a hand, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear. Her gaze swept past Damian Fairchild and the others, finally landing on Elias Sommers, who was leaning against the hospital bed, working on his laptop.
She smiled at him, her voice laced with a peculiar mix of playful grievance and resentment.
"Mr. Sommers, am I your girlfriend, or am I your mistress? When did you get a fiancée? How come I was never told?"
At her words, Elias Sommers's lips twitched.
'This Seraphina Quinn...' he thought, 'is one seriously vicious woman.'
'She's actually trying to drag me down with her?'
Elias Sommers's breathing grew heavier.
