Cian laughed. "So?"
Seraphina Quinn's throat tightened. Her voice choked with emotion, she said, "Take it out on me." After a pause, her voice grew hoarse. "Don't make things difficult for him."
Cian sneered, "So, when all is said and done, you're still in love with him."
He paused, then added,
"Fairchild must be an incredibly proud man, right? Tell me, what do you think would happen if I forced him to get on his knees and kowtow to me tonight? An incredibly proud man, kneeling and kowtowing to his love rival because of his own powerlessness. Could he bear that kind of humiliation?"
Seraphina Quinn's voice cracked. "Cian, you bastard! If you really dare to do that..."
Cian hung up on Seraphina.
When Seraphina tried calling back, the line wouldn't connect.
Seraphina didn't know what crazy stunt Cian would pull.
Unable to reach Cian, she had no choice but to call Damian Fairchild.
But Damian Fairchild didn't answer her calls either.
