He was now in fourth place. With only three karts ahead, it meant he likely wouldn't have to deal with complex packs of drivers anymore.

Coming into Turn 8, Wu Shi pulled out again, attempting to seize the inside line for an overtake, but the third-place driver naturally defended the center line.
The overtake was impossible, of course. They entered the wide curve of Turn 9 one after another, arriving at the double-apex T10.
Wu Shi pulled out once more, planning to use late braking to snatch the apex. The third-place driver repeated his old trick, defending the center.
But this time, their racing lines were slightly different.
