Of course, the defenders returned fire with their bows and arrows.
Many a soldier's glider was torn, causing them to plummet to the ground.
But other soldiers deployed their parachutes and still managed to land safely inside Xionggu Pass.
They began to cut a bloody path from within, preparing to open the main gates of Xionggu Pass.
Of course, some soldiers perished.
Both their gliders and their parachutes were pierced by arrows.
They plummeted before reaching a safe altitude, crashing to their deaths.
But the casualties were few.
The tactic had been too sudden.
Most of the elite soldiers landed successfully.
Some had their parachutes destroyed before they fully touched down.
But these were elite soldiers with extraordinary physical conditioning; a simple roll upon landing was enough to dissipate the impact.
Soon, the sounds of slaughter filled Xionggu Pass.
And before long, their brutal assault yielded results.
They forced open the main gates of Xionggu Pass.
"Charge!"
