Zane Patterson sensed something was amiss. His expression betrayed no emotion. "Speak."
"A few days ago, we heard that Zenith Group headquarters recently sent an executive to this region for a survey. They've already arrived in Jorgenland."
Annelise Valentine's wine glass stopped in mid-air.
Helena glanced at Caleb Carter and continued, "We've been in private contact with them. We think they're quite decent—very sincere and professional. After talking a few times, we thought it might be worth meeting in person."
Caleb Carter added from the side, "It wouldn't be a formal discussion about a partnership. Just a meal to get acquainted. Making a new friend wouldn't hurt, either."
Zane Patterson said nothing, but Annelise Valentine's brows furrowed.
Helena quickly added, "I thought we could use my birthday as an opportunity for everyone to sit down and chat. Something casual and relaxed, not formal at all."
She paused, glancing at her watch. "They'll be here any minute."
