Phoebe Faulkner lay on the bed for a moment before getting up and walking over to Jace Lennox.
This time, she didn't snatch the cigar from his hand like she had before and lecture him about the dangers of smoking. Instead, she simply stood beside him, staring at him without saying or doing anything.
It was now September, and the midnight air was cold. Phoebe Faulkner, clad only in her pajamas, stood there with Jace Lennox. She waited until he finally extinguished the cigar himself, picked up a nearby overcoat, and wrapped it around her.
"Go to bed," Jace Lennox said.
Swaddled in the coat, with only her pretty little head peeking out, Phoebe Faulkner said, "If you're not going to sleep, then neither am I."
Jace Lennox turned to look at Phoebe Faulkner. He cupped her small face and leaned in until his lips were almost touching hers. His voice was extremely hoarse, dangerously seductive in the night. "Are you that eager for me to sleep with you?"
Phoebe Faulkner's cheeks burned.
