What they saw was Jace Lennox's fist less than a centimeter from Phoebe Faulkner's face, with Robin Morgan holding Phoebe in his arms, using his own body to block Jace's brutal punch from behind.
"Robin, are you..." Phoebe came to her senses, her first instinct to check on Robin Morgan.
But her reaction was enough to completely enrage Jace Lennox. He grabbed Robin Morgan's collar from behind and sent him flying to the side with a single kick. The blow was so powerful that when Robin landed, he crashed into several of his men and coughed up a mouthful of blood.
"Robin—!" Phoebe screamed.
But before she could finish speaking, Jace Lennox yanked her up, slung her over his shoulder, and carried her out.
Phoebe struggled desperately over Jace Lennox's shoulder.
Watching Phoebe get taken away, Robin Morgan tried to scramble to his feet and give chase.
But he had barely gotten to his feet and taken two steps before he coughed up more blood and everything went dark.
