Phoebe Faulkner had no idea how angry Millie Sanders was, but she certainly knew how furious Lionel Faulkner was. Seeing her brother's puffed-up cheeks, she couldn't help but console him, "There, there, brother. We won't stoop to his level."
Lionel Faulkner felt a bit better after hearing that. He huffed and said, "Fine. I won't stoop to his level."
"Millie, what's on your mind?" Dr. Whitecoat asked, noticing Millie Sanders's troubled expression. His cheerful grin faded as he walked over to her. "You look so pale," he said, a note of concern in his voice. "Are you not feeling well?"
"No." Millie Sanders shook her head. She clutched Dr. Whitecoat's arm, looking utterly dejected. "Is there something wrong with me?" she asked, her voice full of hurt. "Is that why Mr. Lennox doesn't like me? Is that why he doesn't want us to be together?"
