After opening their hearts to each other, Phoebe and Jace became even more inseparable. They were so lovey-dovey that Lionel fumed in frustration. In the past, Phoebe would have taken Lionel's side, telling Jace not to squabble with him. Now, however, she found herself persuading Lionel to stop picking on Jace.
Lionel may not have been the brightest, but his possessiveness over his sister was innate.
He saw that Phoebe was now siding with Jace instead of him.
His animosity toward Jace grew even more intense.
It was in this climate that Jace, surprisingly, said to Phoebe, "Your brother is pretty much back on his feet. It's not good to keep him cooped up at home all the time. I'll have some free time over the next few days. Why don't you pick a place, and we can take him out to have some fun?"
