Rose Sanders paced back and forth, a bundle of nerves. She looked over at the woman watching her with a calm smile, and she just couldn't take it anymore. She rushed over and pinched Yara Quillan's cheek, grumbling, "Yara, you're the one going into surgery, so why am I a nervous wreck while you're so calm? It's not fair!"
Yara Quillan pulled Rose Sanders's hand away from her face, holding it with a smile. "Who says I'm not nervous?"
Rose Sanders glanced down at the hand holding hers. She could feel the sweat on Yara Quillan's palm. A smile touched Rose's lips when she noticed. 'She'd been worried Yara wasn't acting normal.'
In truth, she was deeply worried by Yara Quillan's apparent nonchalance.
For some reason, the more Yara pretended not to care, the more Rose's heart ached. She was truly afraid. 'What would Yara do all by herself if I'm not here anymore someday?'
"Rosie, don't worry. I'm just an assistant today, I'm going in to learn."
