Jared Monroe's expression was grim. A hint of hostility marred his bewitching features, and Lucian Sloan found himself at a loss for how to bring up taking Yara Quillan out for a change of scenery.
"J-Jared…"
"What is it?" Jared Monroe sank onto the sofa, looking exhausted. He closed his eyes and replied offhandedly.
Lucian Sloan pushed his wheelchair back, putting some distance between them before speaking. "Being cooped up like this all the time isn't a solution. I want Yara to go out with me for a change of scenery."
"A change of scenery?" Jared Monroe's eyes shot open. He stared intently at Lucian Sloan, who looked visibly uncomfortable.
"Lucian, do you know what I found out today?"
Jared Monroe's voice was as cold as a demon's from hell, enough to send a chill down one's spine.
