Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Our Master Is Right Next Door, You Can Go Thank Him Personally

Liam Lanier's smile deepened after hearing what Olivia Wynne said.

"You're too kind. We only helped you last time because Sir instructed us to."

Liam Lanier's tone was deferential. Olivia Wynne frowned for a moment before her expression smoothed over. She looked at him calmly and said softly,

"Regardless, I still must thank you."

'I'm sure I don't know this man. I'm just an obscure, small-time celebrity. Why is he speaking to me with such formality?'

'Judging by how ruthlessly he dealt with that woman earlier, he must hold a high position. He probably rarely defers to anyone, yet here he is, speaking so formally to me after we've only met twice. It just doesn't feel right.'

Olivia Wynne's expression betrayed none of her inner thoughts.

"To be honest, our Sir only gave you a ride that day out of the kindness of his heart. It's rare for him to be so benevolent," Liam Lanier said, watching Olivia Wynne as a sharp glint flashed in his eyes.

The moment Liam Lanier finished speaking, Olivia Wynne remained silent, but William Wynne, who was sitting nearby, spoke up.

William Wynne fixed his sharp gaze on Liam Lanier and asked coolly, "Who are you?"

Liam Lanier turned to look at William Wynne.

When he got a clear look at William Wynne, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes.

'This man's presence is just as imposing as Sir's. You can tell at a glance that he's a formidable person. I wonder what his relationship with Miss Wynne is. She's the only woman Sir has shown any interest in. If this man is truly involved with Miss Wynne, will Sir even have a chance to get close to her?'

His mind raced with the implications, but he answered in a low voice, "A pleasure, sir. My name is Liam Lanier."

William Wynne's expression was grim. He leaned back against the sofa, spreading his legs in a relaxed posture, and gazed coolly at Liam Lanier. "So, you're Mr. Lanier. I hear from Olivia that you helped her out. Thank you very much. However, judging by what just happened outside, I assume your Sir sent you to deal with it? Shouldn't you be getting back to report to him?"

It was a clear dismissal, and everyone present understood.

Liam Lanier understood as well. He had a sneaking suspicion that William Wynne was trying to get rid of him for praising his own Sir. But since he hadn't achieved his goal, Liam Lanier had no intention of leaving so easily.

His expression calm, he replied to William Wynne in an even tone, "You're right, I should report back to our Sir."

After speaking to William Wynne, Liam Lanier turned back to Olivia Wynne. "Miss Wynne, didn't you just say you wanted to thank our Sir? As it happens, he's right next door. Why don't you go thank him in person?"

A moment of silence fell over the private room after Liam Lanier spoke.

William Wynne narrowed his eyes at Liam Lanier.

Olivia Wynne also frowned, though only for an instant before her expression returned to normal.

"You're right. I should thank him in person."

Olivia Wynne said coolly, glancing at Liam Lanier.

Seeing Olivia Wynne get up, William Wynne stood up as well.

As his tall figure rose, the air in the room grew heavy with an unspoken pressure.

William Wynne shot Liam Lanier a cold glance before saying to Olivia Wynne in a low voice, "I'll go with you."

Olivia Wynne nodded. "Okay."

Liam Lanier: "..."

"Miss Wynne, our Sir is just next door. You can go over by yourself."
