Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: First Meeting

"As for being the 'Second Lucky Star,' that's hard to say. Luck is a fickle thing. I had a good run for a while, but it's been terrible these past few days. So you can't claim my public image has crumbled. I'm still me; I haven't changed. And regarding the pregnancy rumors... I'm an adult. It's certainly possible to get pregnant when you have a boyfriend, isn't it?"

"Olivia Wynne, you claim you didn't get involved in Actor Laureate Yates's relationship, but how do you explain the photos of the two of you entering a hotel together?"

"It was merely a coincidence. Isn't it normal for me to stay in a hotel while filming? I just happened to run into Actor Laureate Yates," Olivia Wynne replied gravely.

....

Amy Young, a reporter for *New Morning Magazine*, had rushed to Starlight Media to corner Olivia Wynne after getting a tip from her company. But by the time she arrived, she saw a huge crowd of reporters already swarming Olivia. Just as she was thinking she was too late, resignedly gripping her camera and preparing to head back to the office, the intern beside her tapped her on the shoulder.

She held out her phone to Amy Young.

"Ms. Young, look. Nicole Neal just posted on the social media. She called out Olivia Wynne by name, saying she came between her and Actor Laureate Yates, and that he wants a divorce."

Amy Young turned her head and glanced toward Olivia, who was still being hounded by the press. Even from a distance, she could hear her replies.

She was claiming she had nothing to do with Actor Laureate Yates.

Tightening her grip on her camera, a smile touched the corner of Amy Young's lips. "Come on, let's go get our interview."

'This time, we should be able to get the headline. Nicole Neal posts on the social media, but Olivia Wynne denies being Evan Yates's mistress. Who's lying?'

Olivia Wynne answered the reporters' questions, her expression calm as she glanced to the side, looking for a chance to make a quick escape.

But before she could find an opening, she heard someone ask, "Olivia Wynne, you claim to have no relationship with Actor Laureate Yates, but Nicole Neal just publicly named you on the social media for interfering in her marriage. What is your response to that?"

Olivia Wynne was taken aback by the reporter's question.

'Nicole Neal posted on the social media calling me a homewrecker?'

'What the hell?'

Suppressing the irritation bubbling inside her, Olivia Wynne looked up and fixed her gaze on Amy Young. "Just because someone says something doesn't make it true. Evan Yates isn't great enough for me to lower myself to be his mistress. I'm sure everyone will find out the truth soon enough. Now, could you please make way? I'm going home."

The reporters didn't budge. Instead, they pushed forward with their cameras. "Olivia Wynne, are you saying Evan Yates isn't good enough for you?"

"Olivia Wynne, are you saying Nicole Neal is lying?"

"Olivia Wynne, Nicole Neal is the legal wife. You're the other woman who destroyed someone's relationship, so of course you'd deny it vehemently."

"Olivia Wynne, people online are calling you shameless for wrecking a family. Please respond to this."

The questions multiplied, each one nastier than the last. The warmth drained from Olivia Wynne's eyes, her sharp gaze sweeping over the crowd around her. She answered with commanding presence, enunciating every word, "Evan Yates is indeed not worth me becoming his mistress. If I were that desperate for a man, I'd find one who is handsomer, richer, and more dependable than him."

As soon as Olivia Wynne finished speaking, the surrounding reporters were momentarily stunned. They probably hadn't expected her to say something like that.

'But Evan Yates is an Actor Laureate. How is he not handsome? And he has money, too!'

Seizing the moment while the reporters were dazed, Olivia Wynne saw her chance. She grabbed the door of a car parked by the roadside, pulled it open without even looking to see whose it was, and immediately asked, "Can you give me a ride?"

The driver in the front seat glanced at his employer in the rearview mirror, not daring to even breathe.

'His employer was completely averse to women. Any woman who got near him was courting death.'

Silently offering a prayer for the woman in the back seat, the driver stared straight ahead.

Liam Lanier, sitting in the front passenger seat, had immediately looked back at the man in the black suit the moment the woman got in, terrified that their employer would have an adverse reaction.

The expression in Zachary Fairchild's eyes didn't change at all. With a grim look on his face, he said to the driver, "Drive."
