They exchanged well wishes. Evelyn Grant waved goodbye to Mia, then turned and returned to Preston Keaton's side.
Perhaps due to his cold, the man looked a little weary.
Evelyn Grant held his hand and looked up at him, studying his expression with some concern. "Do you want to rest some more?"
"I'm fine." Preston Keaton turned his head and gave a couple of light coughs. "We can rest at the next campsite."
Their journey for the day consisted of stopping and starting through the desert.
The temperature climbed steadily under the vast desert sky and a dazzling sun. Evelyn Grant took off her jacket, put on a sun shirt, and tilted her head to look at Preston Keaton.
Her gaze then fell to the steering wheel. Before she could even open her mouth, the man's calm voice cut her off.
"You can't."
Evelyn Grant sat up straight, looking at him with a pout. "I haven't even said anything!"
