Geney stared at him, her breath hitching as the finality of his words settled into her chest. Slowly, she pulled entirely away from him, her posture locking back into its rigid, analytical baseline as a different thought suddenly crossed her mind. She wiped a stray tear from her cheek with the back of her hand, her eyes narrowing as she looked at her stepson.
"Tell me something else, Holino," Geney said, her voice dropping into an ice-cold, quiet register that made the hairs on his arms stand up. "Did you also know... that the fragile little intern from your brother's office, Luca Vane... is actually Dahmer Lukas?"
Holino froze completely. The glass of whiskey he had just picked back up paused halfway to his lips. His jaw tightened, his amber eyes widening in shock that he couldn't mask.
"What?" Holino asked, his voice losing all its casual confidence. "The same Dahmer Lukas? The one who always hides behind a visor? The supreme Architect of GEM?"
