Chapter 1 - Test Chap

{Thank you Forthevibes69 for the $1000 donation.}

In a dark room, only lit by the glow of two monitor before which a young man sat slouched in his chair, with an expression that was completely blank.

His eyes looked too empty for someone supposedly doing what he loved.

The chat, on the screen to his left however, told a completely different story.

[wtf that was insane]

[He Solo'd It First Try???]

[Bro didn't even take damage ]

[Another 1k if you run it again]

Another notification popped up on the screen again.

{Thank you NightReaper for the $500 donation.}

But just as with the first, he had no reaction to this too, instead, he just leaned back, let out a sigh and passed his hand through his messy black hair.

"…That it?" he muttered in a disappointed tone, and for good reason.

They had told him that this was supposedly the hardest boss made in the history souls like games.

It was so hard that no one had been able to defeat....until today.

Cain watched the level completion UI pop up showing his run time, enemies killed and the amount of souls collected, with a disappointed gaze.

He really was hopeful that this was going to be challenging, even in the least bit, but it was utterly disappointing.

["That It?"??? Go touch some grass bro!!!]

[This guy is not real]

[He's bored again]

[Play something harder]

[There is nothing harder ]

The chat was suddenly paused when a golden banner suddenly popped up, a sign that someone had issued a challenge.

[GoldenGoose has issued a challenge.]

[Challenge: defeat the boss again, with the impossible mod active.

Reward: $5,000]

Cain sat up straight as he saw the challenge, this was his first time playing this game so he hadn't tried on mods that would make it even harder just yet.

This was the perfect chance to.

"Alright," His eyes suddenly lit up as he leaned forward again grabbing his mouse and positioning his hand over his keyboard, "let's make this game even harder."

[Is this it? Will the almighty Cain finally be entertained?]

[Let's just keep our fingers crossed.]

Cain paid them no mind as he started searching through the options for the mod, and the moment he spotted it, he tapped on install.

A new option appeared.

[WARNING: This modification is not recommended for standard gameplay.]

[Proceed?]

"Finally," he muttered and without hesitation, he pressed confirm causing the game to reload.

Now, he could start the game over with this mod, but he was uninterested, so he just reloaded his save point, which was right outside the boss's arena.

The moment he walked in, a cut scene played which he promptly skipped and unlike before, the boss immediately disappeared.

There was no wind up to its animation, as it reappeared and slammed its weapon at Cain's character, fortunately, his reaction was quick enough for him to dodge roll.

[This Mod Is Crazy]

[He Almost Got Hit]

The chat immediately went wild at the fact that he was almost hit, even Cain leaned forward slightly, his posture changing completely.

Perhaps this was going to be fun.

***

No, it was not.

[Have you ever considered that you might be the problem and not the games?]

[Wtf, is he even human at this point?]

[Holy unemployment final boss.]

The game with the impossible mod installed was only fun for the first few minutes when the boss seemed to be attacking without any wind up.

But Cain soon adapted to that and as he had done in almost every game he had laid hands on,

He beat it, on the first try.

He leaned back on his chair, and placed a hand over his face as he let out a really long sigh.

When had gaming become this boring? He could've sworn that there was a time when he would be genuinely hyped to turn on his PC and boot up the games on it.

But now?

All he did now was turn the PC on, stream games, complete an 'impossible' challenge and then end the stream, only to repeat the next day.

Everything was so incredibly boring at this point, that he found it hard to remember when he was last excited to game or stream.

[Bro…]

[You look kinda sad ngl]

[Take a break man]

A break, maybe that was exactly what he needed.

With a chuckle, he answered, "yeah, I might need one."

Before the chat could respond to his announcement of a break, his screen suddenly froze.

"Hmm?" Cain let out as
