Elias flew through the night sky. In just a few seconds, he saw the buildings of Kuoh Academy.
A large, glowing magical barrier surrounded the school. But it was cracking.
Dozens of Fallen Angels were flying in the air, throwing bright spears of light at the shield.
Elias didn't hesitate. He crashed right into the middle of the enemy army.
He summoned his Naginata again.
He spun the long weapon non-stop.
The sharp blade flashed in the dark, cutting down the Fallen Angels easily.
He killed any enemy that got in his way without slowing down.
As he fought, Elias made a smart choice.
He didn't use his dark Devil magic.
Devil magic was naturally weak against the holy light spears the Fallen Angels used.
If he used it, he would be at a disadvantage.
Instead, Elias used the Magecraft he had learned from Rin.
He fired red magical blasts and glowing energy chains from his free hand.
Magecraft was human magic. It didn't have a weakness to holy power.
The Fallen Angels were completely confused and overwhelmed by his human spells.
Elias quickly cleared a path and landed in the center of the school courtyard.
There, floating high above the ground, was a Fallen Angel with ten massive black wings.
It was Kokabiel.
Kokabiel was laughing loudly. He was monologuing, giving a long, arrogant speech to Rias and Sona, who were on the ground pushing themselves to the limit to keep the magical barrier up.
Elias looked at the villain and felt a little disappointed.
Baraqiel was completely right. Kokabiel was supposed to be a Cadre, one of the highest generals in the Fallen Angel army.
But he was actually very weak. He couldn't even break a shield made by two young, high-class Devils.
Elias hated long, boring speeches.
He decided he had heard enough.
He didn't wait for Kokabiel to finish his villain monologue.
Elias pulled his arm back and threw the Naginata with all his raw dragon strength.
It shot through the air like a deadly missile, aiming right at Kokabiel's head.
Kokabiel stopped talking. He quickly tilted to the side, and the fast blade barely missed his face.
Kokabiel looked down at Elias and smirked proudly.
"Did you really think a simple throw would work on me?"
Kokabiel laughed, his eyes shining with madness.
"I am a leader of the Fallen Angels! I already knew you were coming, boy! Your little attacks are useless!"
Elias didn't say a word. He just smiled a little bit, keeping his eyes locked on the villain.
Kokabiel didn't notice the thin, glowing red thread attached to the weapon.
Elias had quietly tied a strong Magecraft chain to the handle of the Naginata before he threw it.
High in the sky behind Kokabiel, the heavy polearm stopped in mid-air.
Then, Elias violently pulled his right hand backward.
Like a massive, deadly boomerang, the Naginata flew right back.
*SHLUCK!*
The sharp, curved blade slammed right into the middle of Kokabiel's back.
"GAAAAAH!"
Kokabiel screamed in terrible, blinding agony.
Blood spilled from his lips. His arrogant smirk vanished instantly.
The shock and pain were so intense he almost fell out of the sky.
He reached back with shaking hands, feeling the weapon lodged deeply in his flesh.
He glared down at Elias with pure, hateful eyes.
"You little brat!"
Kokabiel cursed loudly, spitting blood.
"You used a dirty trick!"
"You are the one trying to start a war by attacking kids,"
Elias said coldly, pulling the magic chain to rip the weapon free.
"Don't complain when someone doesn't play fair."
Elias caught the bloody Naginata as it flew back into his hand.
He spun it once to clean off the blood and rested it calmly on his shoulder.
Down on the ground, the heavy magical barrier slowly faded away.
Rias and Sona didn't need to hold it up anymore.
Rias and Akeno dropped their hands.
They were very tired, but the moment they saw Elias standing in the courtyard, their faces lit up with pure joy.
"Elias!"
Rias cheered happily. Her heart felt so light. He had kept his promise to protect them.
"Ara, Ara. Our hero is always right on time,"
Akeno smiled warmly, her eyes shining with pride.
Next to them, Sona Sitri dropped to her knees.
The strict student council president wiped the sweat from her forehead and let out a long, heavy sigh of relief.
She adjusted her glasses, her hands still shaking a little bit from the intense magic she had just used.
Rias looked down at Sona and smiled.
"You can rest now, Sona,"
Rias told her confidently.
"Elias is here. He will deal with Kokabiel and win."
Sona looked up at the sky. She saw Kokabiel healing his wound with holy light.
Even though he was hurt, his magical aura was still massive and terrifying.
The air around him felt heavy with death and war.
Sona frowned. She was a very logical person. She always calculated the risks, and right now, the math did not look good.
"Are you really sure about that, Rias?"
Sona asked, her voice full of deep doubt.
She stood up slowly, looking at the teenage boy holding the polearm.
"I know Elias is incredibly strong,"
Sona continued, speaking with careful logic.
"I saw him completely crush Riser Phenex without breaking a sweat. That is a very impressive feat."
Sona paused, her eyes filled with worry.
"But Riser was just a young, spoiled Devil,"
Sona warned.
"Kokabiel is completely different. He is a Cadre. He is a supreme general who fought and survived the ancient Great War between God and the Satans. He has thousands of years of battle experience. Can Elias really defeat a monster like that?"
Rias didn't look scared at all. She just kept her eyes on Elias's strong, steady back.
She remembered the things Elias had told her.
She remembered how Dee, the literal end of the multiverse, looked at Elias with such love and pride.
She knew Elias had powers that normal Devils couldn't even dream of.
Rias reached out and gently squeezed Sona's shoulder.
"You are right, Sona. Kokabiel is an ancient monster,"
Rias said softly, her voice filled with absolute faith.
"But you don't know Elias like I do. To him, a Cadre is nothing to be afraid of. Just watch him. He is going to show that old bird what true power really looks like."
