Sierra Sullivan could understand why Hector Grant felt the need to give that warning, but hearing it still felt a little strange.
"Do I look that stupid?" Sierra couldn't help but ask.
Hector Grant shook his head. "Of course not. I just wanted to give you a heads-up. Think of it as being better safe than sorry."
Now that Hector Grant had explained himself, Sierra actually felt a little embarrassed.
'It makes me look like I'm throwing a tantrum for no reason!'
Sierra cleared her throat. "Well, Captain Grant, you should get back to your duties. Don't worry about us. We're going to see Jayce's mom."
"Okay, you guys go on ahead then."
With that, Hector Grant turned and walked away quickly.
Judging by how fast he left, you could tell he really was busy.
Sierra breathed a sigh of relief and looked over at Jayce, meeting his smiling gaze.
"Let's go," Sierra said, holding her hand out to Jayce. "Let's go see Aunt Shelby and tell her what happened."
"Okay."
