Josie Quinn dusted off her hands. "Alright, I'll go."
As soon as she walked into the meeting room, Josie Quinn could feel the unusually tense atmosphere.
Julian Ford was seated at the head of the table, his expression serene, but his tightly pursed lips and the sharp glint behind his glasses betrayed the gravity of the situation.
Standing beside him were several men, travel-worn and disheveled, some with tattered clothes and minor injuries. Their faces were etched with exhaustion and unease.
"What's wrong?" Josie Quinn's heart clenched.
Julian Ford didn't beat around the bush, gesturing to the men. "Let them tell you."
One of the least injured men stepped forward, his voice hoarse. "Miss Quinn, we were the team that went out with Captain Felix Fields to search for new energy pools. On... on our way back, we ran into a group of people. The leader was a woman, and she seemed to know the captain..."
He trailed off, his brow furrowing in hesitation.
