Although only the blueprint had appeared, at least there was hope of eventually crafting the item. It gave a glimmer of hope to everyone who needed it.
That one piece of news was enough to alleviate most people's anxiety.
However, this did nothing to alleviate Bonnie Callahan's anxiety. She had been planning to go to sleep, but now she was wide awake. There wasn't even a hint of a sanitary pad on the trading market.
Other than the pack in Faye Yardley's possession, there was no news of anyone else having the physical item.
But as a fellow girl, she understood that Faye Yardley needed them herself.
Now, looking at the messages on the public channel, she saw that—led on by certain individuals—people were actually starting to flame Faye Yardley for bringing up the topic. They accused her of being unable to stand seeing others well, deliberately showing off to provoke mass anxiety and leave people too demoralized to fish for chests the next day. Her intentions were sinister, they claimed. Some even guessed she was a member of the Langdon Group, deliberately raising the subject as a form of advance advertising for The Langdons.
Of course, rational people were still the majority; it was just that most of them couldn't be bothered to engage with the trolls.
Bonnie Callahan wanted to transform into a warrior to defend Faye Yardley, but each person could only send three messages to the public channel every twelve hours. The restriction made her so furious she could spit.
All she could do was urge others in their private group chat to speak up on their leader's behalf.
She wasn't sure who had stepped up, but the tone on the public channel really did turn around.
Faye Yardley was oblivious to all of this. As soon as she finished speaking, she had started organizing her haul.
The slight gloominess from realizing her period would likely be a recurring issue was quickly dispelled by her other gains.
First, she fitted the soft mattress onto her wooden bed and lay down to try it out. It really was a world of difference. She started feeling drowsy the moment she lay down. 'This is so comfortable!'
She quickly scrambled off the bed. She couldn't sleep just yet.
'Wait a minute.' She seemed to recall getting a phone that could make cross-regional calls. Tapping her head, she quickly rummaged through her storage to find it.
Instructions for the one-time-use cross-regional phone: Enter the correct region number and the correct Name (duplicates can be filtered). Maximum call duration: 10 minutes.
Faye Yardley sighed as she read the instructions. 'I knew finding my brother wouldn't be that easy.' First, she would have to know which region he was in.
Having the same name wasn't a problem, since she could filter through the results herself—the Name was accompanied by a profile picture, after all. 'But if someone who looks identical and has the same name is also in the same region... well, I guess you can't fight that kind of destiny,' she mused.
She put the phone back into her storage.
She placed all the raw materials like wood and iron blocks, as well as the food and water she couldn't consume right away, into her storage. 'Perfect, each item type only takes up a single slot,' she thought, pleased.
The down jacket was lightweight, but she could immediately feel its warmth the moment she put it on. 'A good find.' She put it away, as she didn't need it for the time being.
She had four pairs of men's gloves. 'I'll keep two pairs for my brother and sell the other two.'
What made Faye Yardley's smile widen was that she now had four brand-new sets of underwear to change into.
'My personal quality of life really has improved by leaps and bounds.'
She had three blueprints for an Intermediate Log Coffee Table. After checking her materials, Faye Yardley decided to use one. An elegant and beautifully crafted coffee table appeared before her.
She placed it between the sofa and the fireplace. Now she would be able to eat while warming herself by the fire.
Finally, there were the six small water storage towers from her critical-hit loot drop. Each one could hold 1.5 tons of water. Paired with the High Level Water Purifier she had also received, she would never have to worry about not having water to drink, even if she couldn't find any more bottled water.
As for the water that came from the bathroom tap, Faye Yardley had never even considered drinking it. She had come from a peaceful, civilized world and hadn't been short on water since arriving. As such, her mindset was still fixed on the functional distinctions between different types of water.
Some water was drinkable, and some was not. It was as simple as that.
'But where would be a good place to install the water storage towers?'
Faye Yardley thought about it and fiddled around for a while before discovering that the purifier could be installed on the kitchen wall. The water towers were even more amazing—they could be integrated directly into the modular kitchen, though a single kitchen could accommodate a maximum of two small towers.
After Faye Yardley clicked to use them, the kitchen's appearance remained unchanged, but water now flowed when she opened the faucet.
As for whether the water came from the kitchen itself, the system gave a clear answer: it was Pure Water, produced by the fusion of the purifier and water tower with the kitchen.
"Alright, you're the system, you call the shots. System, can I ask a question? If I hadn't installed the purifier and water tower, would the modular kitchen provide its own water?"
[Dear player, please feel at ease using the modular kitchen. Even without any additional installations, it will produce 500ml of water per day.]
A thought suddenly struck Faye Yardley. "System, the water tower is empty. Does that mean it will fill up automatically?"
[The water storage tower does not draw water automatically, but the High Level Water Purifier does. Water filtered by the High Level Water Purifier will automatically flow into the water tower to be stored. Once the tower is full, the purifier will suspend its operations.]
"Thank you. That's a relief."
Faye Yardley had no intention of selling the four extra towers. What if her brother needed them in the future? Besides, she'd need water if she expanded her raft to grow vegetables.
Selling them would be easy; buying them back, not so much.
'Besides, it's unlikely any players have a need for them right now. They can just sit in my storage,' she thought.
She also had three Small Wooden Boat blueprints. She decided to learn one at her workbench first.
As for why she would need a small wooden boat when she was already on a raft, Faye Yardley vaguely recalled the reason: rafts drifted slowly, but with a small boat, she could use oars to row to nearby places she wanted to visit.
It would be useful for landing on islands or salvaging materials from places that were a bit farther away from the raft.
After a moment of thought, she sent a message to Zachary Pierce.
"Mr. Pierce, interested in a Small Wooden Boat blueprint? [Image]"
Unexpectedly, he was also awake at this late hour and replied instantly.
Zachary Pierce: "Yes. Just tell me what you want for it."
"Wood. I'm short on wood."
"Alright."
Although Faye Yardley felt her Level 4 raft was big enough for her alone, it wouldn't be large enough if she wanted to start farming.
Besides, a bigger raft offered more protection against risks.
'It seems like I'm always short on wood,' she mused.
Crafting a Small Wooden Boat required 20 wood, which she didn't lack. 'I'll make two for now and keep them in my inventory,' she decided.
She stretched her back. In what felt like the blink of an eye, it was already nearly one in the morning. Faye Yardley did a quick wash-up and went straight to bed.
With the soft mattress, the incredibly comfortable pillow, and the quilt wrapped snugly around her, she had a truly comfortable sleep.
When her alarm clock woke her again, the bed felt incredibly cozy, but Faye Yardley still forced herself to get up on time through sheer willpower.
When she went out and opened the door, a blast of cold air hit her face.
"You've got to be kidding me. The temperature dropped this fast? Let's see... today should be June 4th on the Survival Calendar. Getting colder instead of hotter in June. This is exactly what you'd expect from a game world."
Faye Yardley muttered her complaint and closed the door. She decided to first cook a pot of energy-rich Snake Meat soup to start her day off with vitality.
