For a moment, Caelis was afraid to move, worried that even the slightest lapse in concentration would allow his inner beast to break free. His heart seemed to stop beating the moment Yvonne emerged from the room carrying a baby in her arms.
"Lina!" Rhea immediately stood up and hurried toward her mother to see her beloved sister. "Lina, don't cry. Momma and I are here." She carefully kissed Lina's tiny arm.
However, Lina showed no signs of calming down. Instead, her cries only grew louder and more heartbreaking with each passing moment.
Yvonne felt completely overwhelmed. This was the first time her youngest daughter had cried like this since the day she was born. She sat back down beside her husband, allowing Dwayne to hold their baby.
"My little princess, what's wrong?" Dwayne asked gently. "Why are you crying? Are you still hungry?"
