Speak now, Lord, I'm listening
Longing but not obsession
Every prayer a confession
When Adam walked the gardens by your side
He looked around and found no equal companion
Praise on his lips and heart
And yet even he still desired a wife
You, Lord, recognized His need
From your own lips, you said its not good to be alone
For that was never your design from the beginning
A help-meet was always apart of Your design.
So from man's rib,
Made You a woman,
An equal companion
A Holy union
Love transformed before heaven's eyes
A powerful shadow of what's to come
A holy echo of a future marriage supper
Only one, where heaven divine meets earth
Your very own Son, Christ the Bridegroom,
Given a Bride of His very own
For in heaven there is no other marriage to be had
For in Christ our King, we are fulfilled and exceedingly glad
A human experience of an eternal reality
I long for but don't idolize marriage
I entrust my life into Your capable hands
And, You uphold me by Your right hand.
Speak now Lord, I'm listening.
