Take Ajo Bhulte Parini – Chapter 7

"The Last Meeting, or A New Beginning?"

The sound of rain still feels the same as before.

I'm standing by the window—Arnav. Outside, it's drizzling softly, but inside me, a storm refuses to calm down.

Today, after exactly one year, I'm going to see her again.

Sayantani.

The one I could never forget.

I keep checking the time on my phone. 6:00 PM.

We decided to meet at 6:30 at that old café—the place where our story had once begun.

I still remember that day…

She sat in front of me for the first time and smiled, saying,

"Why are you so quiet?"

I had smiled and replied,

"Because when I see you, I forget everything I want to say."

Will that same feeling still exist today?

As I entered the café, a strange nervousness ran through me.

Everything looked the same—the same table, the same lights, the same aroma.

Only we had changed.

I sat down at the corner table.

6:25…

6:28…

6:30…

Just then, the door opened.

She walked in.

Wearing a white salwar, her hair slightly wet, and those same eyes—where I once found my entire world.

She paused for a moment when she saw me,

then slowly walked toward my table.

"Hi…"

Her voice trembled slightly.

I replied softly,

"How are you?"

She smiled faintly.

"Trying to be okay."

For a while, we just sat in silence.

Only the steam rising from our coffee cups filled the space between us.

I couldn't stay quiet anymore.

"Why did you leave that day?"

She lowered her head a little, then said slowly—

"Because I was afraid."

"Afraid of what?"

"Afraid of losing you."

I stared at her, confused.

"You were afraid of losing me… so you left me?"

She looked up, her eyes shimmering with tears.

"Yes… because I thought you'd find someone better than me… and I wouldn't be able to handle that."

I let out a deep sigh.

"Did you ever ask me what I wanted?"

She stayed silent.

Outside, the rain had grown heavier.

I spoke gently,

"I only wanted you… I still do."

She looked at me, startled.

"Still?"

I smiled softly.

"Yes… I still haven't forgotten you."

Tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I missed you every single day," she whispered.

"Every day I wished I could get one more chance…"

I slowly held her hand.

"Then today… you have that chance."

The café seemed to pause around us.

"Can you start again?" I asked.

She took a moment.

Then slowly nodded.

"But this time," she said,

"no running away."

I smiled.

"This time… no fear."

Outside, the rain finally began to slow down.

Maybe some stories don't end.

They just wait… for the right moment to begin again.

And maybe…

this was our moment.
