Chapter 45 - CHAPTER FORTY SIX

"Today has been perfect. Thank you, Henry, for everything. I'm so glad I met you. You've been nothing short of an angel in my life, and I love you for that." Ellen spoke under the Eiffel Tower. The gardens were beautiful, and the tower was huge. Ellen couldn't contain her joy when they got there. It was past 11pm and her birthday was almost over. "There is one more thing we didn't do at the party." Henry had stated. "What is it?" Ellen asked with interest. "We didn't dance. It's late now and there are just few people here, I think you can be a little crazy and dance with me here, before the tower. Shall we?" Henry had explained and asked, extending his hand. "We shall, but let me warn you, I'm not a very good dancer." She took it with a bright smile, and Henry went to put on music from his car. Ellen had difficulty dancing from the dress she was wearing and for not knowing waltz, but "Just follow my lead, I've got you." Henry encouraged her, and she danced for a whole 30minutes with him. Being with him was so comfortable that she didn't feel the piercing chill of the night till they had stopped dancing. They were lying on the grass beneath the tower, on Henry's jacket, while gazing at the stars above them now, when Ellen started talking out her feelings in his arms. "What did you just say?" A startled Henry sat up with a bolt, making Ellen sit as well, his phone in hand. "Um, today has been perfect?" Ellen replied. "No, after that." "Thank you for everything?" "Eleanora don't play with me. You just said something I've been wanting to hear for a while now. Repeat it please." Henry said, almost in frustration. "Uh, I said I love you, Henry. I always have, I just didn't want to admit it, but after all this, it feels right to tell you how I feel, especially in the city of love, under its symbol." A coy Ellen declared. Henry stood immediately and for a second there, Ellen's heart did a somersault. Her fears calmed down, when Henry pulled her up like he did, when she knelt before him some months ago. "You have no idea how happy I am to hear that. I've waited so long for this. I thought you preferred the gentleman with respect, to me." Henry said, putting his hand on her cheek and his forehead on her forehead. Ellen laughed at his last sentence, feeling butterflies in her stomach. "I do, but a world class brilliant playboy isn't so bad either." Ellen said and they laughed. "I love you, Eleanora." "I love you, Henry." Ellen confessed too, and at just a minute to end her birthday, she received her first kiss under the Eiffel Tower, a symbol of love and romance. "Happy birthday baby girl. Will you please put me out of my misery and accept to be my girlfriend? I'm afraid I will lose my mind if you reject me today too." Henry said after the kiss and Ellen blushed. "Say something please." He urged. "A lot of people will kill you if you break my heart Henry, don't let that be the reason why you die." Ellen said after recovering from the kiss. "Is that a yes, or no? I'm confused." Henry said. "It's a yes, and fore warning of what…" Ellen replied but Henry kissed the rest of the words away in her mouth, making her head unsteady. Fireworks from nowhere started displaying, making the settings more romantic. "Did you plan this as well?" Ellen asked with amazement. "Sweetheart, I'm anything but cliché. It's 12am now, someone must be celebrating something." Henry replied and they laughed. He was right, cliché was not in his vocabulary. She just loved this guy. They sat on the car with Henry putting his coat on her shoulders, as they stared at the display going on, his hand on her shoulder. "I will never forget this birthday, ever." Ellen said, looking at the fireworks, her head on his shoulder. "Of course, not every Ghanaian girl can boast of their first kiss being under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, on their birthday." Henry teased. "Who said that was my first kiss?" Ellen asked, with a serious expression while looking at him. "Eleanora Wilson, I will kill you if you have kissed someone. Who was it? Where and when?" Henry said with wide eyes. "You'd kill me? I met the person before you. It wasn't Paris but it was great." Ellen continued. "Oh yeah, did he kiss you like he means it? Was it as great as mine? Because I know I just want to keep on kissing your sweet lips till I swallow you." Henry rebutted. "Oh yes, she did mean it." Ellen said after blushing at his sentence. "She?" He asked, perplexed. "Yes, my mother. Hahaha hahaha." Ellen replied and burst into laughter. "Are you kidding me? You just made me jealous of your mom. I was literally planning on killing the guy that got to you first, you are unbelievable." Henry said in shock and started laughing too. "I got you good." Ellen teased. "Yeah, you did, there is always a next time. Before that, I'm gonna get you now." Henry said and pulled her in for tickling, both of them laughing uncontrollably.
