Chapter 11 - Learning About Lance

Lance kept marking up Ashton's neck, not considering that Ashton's manager or boss could come out and see it. Eventually, Ashton pushed Lance off, hands on his chest.

"Go! We can talk about this later!" Ashton scolded him and headed inside. "Don't go doing this horny crap again! I need this job!"

"Fine, fine," Lance laughed, then headed off, his canines glinting in the dim light.

"Ugh," Ashton groaned and headed back inside.

"Was that Tyler out there?" Stacey asked.

"Huh?" Ashton asked, then realized Lance had left marks. Ashton slapped his hand over his neck. "Actually, Tyler and I broke up a while ago, and I have a situation ship going right now."

"Oh?" Stacey asked, surprised. "Guess that was bound to happen. Whenever he came in here, he would be disrespectful and a genuine ass when you weren't on shift."

"Really?" Ashton wasn't expecting to hear this.

"Yeah, he wasn't even a pleasant companion based on the guys he had around him," Stacey said, thinking back on it. "The only person smiling with him was a girl. A sisapointing person, really."

"Yeah," Ashton said, not even stopping Stacey from saying anything else. "He really is after coming to terms with things that have happened."

"Yeah," Stacey looked at her clipboard again. "Looks like we need another supply run."

"I'm on it," Ashton immediately grabbed the list of needed supplies and headed out without Stacey needing to say anything. "I'll have it brought over in a half hour at the latest."

"Just be careful," Stacey called after him. "And don't forget the money set aside for the order!"

"Got it, boss," Ashton called back as he left.

Ashton left the cafe and allowed his dragon features to sprout from his body, and flew off to collect the items. With his speed in the air, it wouldn't be long before all the supplies were gathered and collected for the cafe. The items were non-freezer or cold drinks like milk, so the heat of the warm sunlight wouldn't spoil them. Ashton continued to gather the items and pay for each until the last item was checked off the list.

"Alright," Ashton said aloud while flying in place in the sky, and sent a quick text to Stacey, notifying her that he had gotten the supplies and was heading back. "Let's see, ah-"

Ashton barely looked ahead and saw Lance flying in place just past clouds. Ashton let out a heavy sigh and hung his head downwards.

"Why are you up here, Lance?" Ashton looked up, and Lance was within touching distance of Ashton.

"What can I say?" Lance said as he lifted his hand and cupped Ashton's face. "I wanted some time with you."

"And I told you we would talk later," Ashton retorted. "Need I remind you that I am on the clock?"

"What, I can't be needy with you?" Lance asked and pulled Ashton to him. "So, could I get some time now with you?"

"No!" Ashton quickly covered Lance's mouth before he could mark up Ashton's body any more than Lance already had. "And I need to get back to the cafe!"

"What, not even a sliver of affection?" Lance teased Ashton, pressing a kiss to each of Ashton's palms. Ashton shoved him away, flying a distance away. "What? Getting shy on me?"

"I need to go!" With that, Ashton flew off. Lance's laughter echoed behind him. Ashton felt his face burning red. This wasn't going to get any easier, especially with Lance being so damn persistent. But he brought it on himself for the prank. But then again, he would have been cheated on repeatedly more by Tyler. So maybe things will play out better for him once things are settled between him and Lance. For now, he had work to do. "Alright."

But, as luck would have it, Ashton wouldn't have easy shifts. His manager got him in to take in orders when a coworker called in sick a few days later. And to make it worse, they had many individuals coming in and placing orders. Some even place in a few hundred dollar orders one after another. Ashton was struggling to keep up with how busy it got until his break time. He was sitting at a table in the back, AC on full blast, helping with the scorching weather of a heatwave.

"I can't believe one of our coworkers is being pursued by that new CEO heir," Anny, a succubus coworker of Ashton's, started gossiping with Tiana, a nymph coworker. Ashton couldn't help but eavesdrop on their conversation.

"Really?" Tiany asked.

"Yeah, I think his name is Lance," Anny said. Ashton flinched, hearing this. "He's that gargoyle family company's son. He is a hotty, but he never shows emotion. Ah! It's like he came from a magazine or one of those spicy romances!"

Ashton let out a quiet groan and began to rub his forehead. Internally, he glared at Lance even though he wasn't in the room. Ashton swore the next time he saw Lance, he would hit him over the head for making things so complicated in the cafe. And a young CEO heir? Ashton didn't know what that was about. Even back in college, Ashton saw Lance going to culinary classes, not business.
