Chapter 45 - Tokyo Disneyland

The commotion of the collective Cursed Spirit action and the invasion of Jujutsu High quickly passed.

Shin didn't feel any difference in his life compared to before, aside from having more than ten times the daily workload. After all, those stinking rats in the sewers didn't dare show their faces to cause trouble right now.

"Let me see... Is today's mission to exorcise all the Cursed Spirits in TDL (Tokyo Disneyland)? Seriously..."

Everyone else at Jujutsu High had also received similar missions, such as clearing Ginza, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Senso-ji Temple, Meiji Jingu Shrine, and so on.

The number of people dispatched varied depending on the size of the area to be cleared. Aside from Tokyo Jujutsu High, all other Tokyo Jujutsu Sorcerers were also called in to work. For instance, Shin and Nanami Kento were assigned to Disneyland.

...

At the entrance of Disneyland, Nanami Kento checked the time on his wristwatch from time to time.

Shin came running over in a hurry, gasping for breath as he apologized, "Sorry, Nanami-san. The traffic at the Disneyland entrance was backed up for kilometers, so I just got out and ran. Am I late?"

"Not too late. You're much better than Gojo-san. Anyway, everyone is here now, so let's begin the mission. I hope we can get off work on time today."

To be honest, Shin wasn't very familiar with Nanami Kento—they had only met once in the first chapter—so he felt quite awkward about being late. To make up for it, he took on seventy percent of Disneyland's area.

"Leave this area and this area to me, Nanami-san. I'll definitely do a beautiful job."

"Leave the area you marked to me, you just go to the remaining small section."

Shin didn't say anything more because he understood the mature adult in front of him, who looked like he was in office worker attire. He was much more reliable than Satoru and took great care of his juniors, he was a strong and gentle person.

Even if Shin insisted, Nanami Kento wouldn't give him the larger area, so Shin decided to speed up his exorcisms to clear as much of the area as possible.

"Alright, the mission has begun. Take this ID badge, we can head straight in shortly. Also, this mission is to be completed right under the noses of ordinary people, so be careful when you act and don't scare them. That's all."

"Understood. I guarantee the mission will be completed."

After the two entered Disneyland, they immediately headed in two different directions.

This mission was very unfriendly to Shin. Ordinary people could see his Cursed Technique creations, so he could only rely on his fists to exorcise them one by one.

'It's all Kenjaku's fault for causing such a huge mess and making us Jujutsu Sorcerers work so hard.'

The clearing mission involved gradually sweeping through all of Tokyo over three months, repeating the process every three months. Because there were so few Jujutsu Sorcerers, there weren't even any days off for shift rotations. Shin even felt like going on out-of-town missions every day. At least for those missions, you only had to exorcise the one Cursed Spirit causing trouble, unlike now.

Shin casually crushed a Maggot in his hand and turned toward the next location.

"The Haunted House... There might be a few more Cursed Spirits here."

He showed his ID and bypassed the long line to slip into the Haunted House. After all, you couldn't expect a Jujutsu Sorcerer on a mission to wait in line for every attraction. How many could they finish in a day like that?

Upon entering the Haunted House, Shin discovered a lot of residual cursed energy. Maggots would fly over every now and then, leaving him beyond annoyed.

Meanwhile, the ordinary people nearby watched this weirdo with strange looks as he occasionally slapped the air or clenched his hand tightly as if crushing something.

Everyone stayed far away from Shin. After all, he looked like he had a mental illness and wasn't someone to be messed with.

"Mommy, what is that big brother doing?"

"Oh, that's a type of performance art. Let's go, don't disturb him, okay?"

"Okay..."

Shin continued forward when suddenly, a half-meter tall, black furball-like Cursed Spirit lunged out. It stood right in the middle of the path and reached out with its pair of claws as thin as bamboo poles, pushing a nearby child to the ground, causing him to land on his butt.

The child burst into tears on the spot.

"Waaah..."

His mother tried to pull him up, but the Cursed Spirit crawled onto the child and wouldn't let him stand. The mother tried a few times without success and got angry, thinking the child was throwing a tantrum.

"Honey, if you don't get up right now, Mommy's going to get angry."

Shin couldn't bear to see this little kid's butt get bruised any further, so he hurried over, yanked the Cursed Spirit off him, and pulled him up at the same time.

"Get up quickly, little friend, don't make your mom angry."

"No... sob... I wanted to get up just now, but... sob... it felt like something was holding me down."

Shin didn't stay to listen further. After all, he still had a mission. With a sudden surge of strength in the hand gripping the Cursed Spirit, he crushed it. The Cursed Spirit's blood and severed limbs quickly dissipated into the air.

This was the typical way common Cursed Spirits caused trouble for humans. In fact, Cursed Spirits were everywhere in daily life causing trouble—whether it was suddenly tossing your paper documents into the air, pushing your fragile cup onto the floor, or tripping you up while you were walking.

Only Cursed Spirits above Grade 2 posed a direct threat to the lives of adults, but those above Grade 2 were very rare. In fact, barring any accidents, this entire Disneyland wouldn't produce a single Cursed Spirit above Grade 2 in ten years.

As long as it wasn't a place where negative emotions were dense and concentrated, the born Cursed Spirits wouldn't be strong.

In places like black companies, everyone's resentment is very heavy and focused on heavy workloads or unscrupulous bosses. In such cases, the leaked Cursed Energy will resonate and aggregate into powerful Cursed Spirits.

Shin worked from morning until four in the afternoon, only grabbing a few bites of steak and an apple in between.

Finally, he met up with Nanami Kento again. He had finished about sixty percent of the area, while Nanami Kento had finished forty percent.

"Phew... Nanami-san, the mission is complete. Can we get off work early and unwind now? How about I treat you to a meal as an apology for being late this morning?"

"Then let's go eat together. My treat."

The two left TDL together. Just like the tourists around them, their faces were overflowing with relaxed smiles.
