Chapter 71 - Traveling with Tsunade, A New Mission

That day, Yoru followed his usual routine. After waking up and finishing his meal, he was just about to begin his daily training.

"Lord Yoru!"

Just as he stretched his body, a voice came from outside.

Creak.

Yoru opened the door and saw a Konoha ninja standing outside.

"Lord Yoru!" The ninja bowed respectfully the moment he saw him. "Lord Senju Senra asked me to find you. He said there's something important."

"Oh?"

A thoughtful look flashed across Yoru's eyes.

A mission?

He dismissed the messenger, tidied himself up, and headed toward the command headquarters.

Inside, Senju Senra was discussing strategies with several advisors.

Seeing Yoru enter, he smiled. "You're here. Come over."

Yoru smiled as well. "What's the matter, Senra?"

Senju Senra's expression gradually turned serious.

"We've received important intelligence. The Rain Village has just stored a batch of explosive tags at one of their bases."

"Explosive tags play a crucial role in war—you understand that."

His tone grew heavier.

"A large number of explosive tags can even threaten elite shinobi. This batch must be destroyed."

Yoru nodded, his expression also becoming serious. Explosive tags were indeed one of the most important strategic resources in war.

Then Senju Senra suddenly smiled.

"So… we've decided to let you handle it."

Yoru's face darkened instantly.

What the hell did that mean? Did they all think he was some kind of arsonist?

I'm magma, alright? Not some fire-starting lunatic!

The advisors nearby couldn't help but chuckle at his expression.

Senju Senra cleared his throat and continued.

"Of course, this mission is too important for you to handle alone. But sending too many people risks exposure. So we've assigned you a partner."

"Senra, is there a mission?"

A familiar voice sounded.

Yoru turned and saw Tsunade walking in, dressed in combat armor. Her golden hair was tied up neatly, enhancing her already striking presence.

Combined with her beauty, she drew everyone's attention the moment she entered.

"Tsunade, that outfit suits you really well," Yoru said with a smile.

Tsunade's face flushed slightly. "R-Really?" She subconsciously twirled a strand of her hair.

Senju Senra looked at the two of them, his expression turning a little strange.

What the hell… why does it feel like this brat is flirting with the Senju clan's princess?

Yoru noticed his gaze and chuckled awkwardly.

"Tsunade, this mission is for you and Yoru to work together and destroy the Rain Village's explosive tag stockpile," Senju Senra explained.

"So I'm assisting him?" Tsunade asked. After all, from any angle, Yoru's abilities were perfectly suited for destruction.

Yoru's expression grew even darker.

Great. Now everyone really thinks I'm here to burn things down.

Seeing his reaction, Senju Senra felt oddly satisfied.

"Your strength is sufficient," he continued, "but your experience with missions like this is still lacking."

Tsunade nodded in understanding.

After taking the intelligence report, she pulled Yoru away before he could argue further.

Watching their departing figures, Senju Senra suddenly felt a trace of regret.

If something happened to Tsunade… that would be a disaster.

"Well, stop making that face," Tsunade said with a faint smile as she glanced at Yoru.

Despite his overwhelming strength and reliable presence, he looked like a sulking child right now.

"Listen, Tsunade," Yoru said seriously, "I'm not an arsonist. I'm magma. A natural disaster, okay?"

Tsunade couldn't help but laugh. "Yes, yes. A merciless natural disaster. Then where was that 'mercilessness' in your strategy before?"

"Tsunade."

Yoru looked at her seriously.

"Do you also think that was ruthless?"

Tsunade hesitated. To be honest, it had been… somewhat ruthless.

"Like I said," Yoru continued calmly, "there's no such thing as innocence in war."

"If we show mercy to the Rain Village, do you think they'll show mercy to Konoha if the situation is reversed?"

Tsunade's expression grew complicated.

"And whether it's mercy or cruelty—who can truly define it?" Yoru said softly. "I only need to be compassionate toward the people I care about."

"For example… you."

Tsunade's face turned bright red instantly.

"D-Don't say nonsense! Hurry up and pack! We leave in twenty minutes—meet at the camp entrance!"

She stammered before quickly turning away, her retreating figure slightly flustered.

Twenty minutes later, at the Konoha camp gate—

Yoru watched as Tsunade approached, her expression still a bit unnatural.

He smiled. "Let's go, Tsunade."

"Mm."

The two of them moved swiftly through the dense forest toward their destination.

Yoru occasionally glanced at her with a strange expression.

Not long ago, they had encountered a group of Rain shinobi who foolishly attempted an ambush.

Yoru had been ready to act—but Tsunade moved first.

With chakra bursting from her feet, she charged forward and crushed them with a few punches, their bodies exploding into a bloody mess.

Yoru had been stunned.

Watching it in anime was one thing—

Seeing it up close was something else entirely.

That kind of brutal, violent combat… coming from someone as beautiful as Tsunade…

It was shocking.

Tsunade noticed his gaze and felt slightly embarrassed.

"Stop staring!" she snapped. "We're almost at the target. Stay alert!"

Yoru smiled and stopped teasing her. His Observation Haki spread outward.

Ahead—

A Rain Village base appeared in his perception.
