Chapter 89 - CHAPTER 89

After obtaining Shisui Uchiha's remaining Mangekyō Sharingan, upgrading her own eyes into the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan should no longer be a problem.

It was honestly a little wasteful, though.

Most Uchiha only evolved into the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan after overusing their Mangekyō abilities to the brink of blindness, like Madara Uchiha and later Sasuke Uchiha in the original story. Meanwhile, Chinatsu's eyesight remained excellent, and her body was still in peak condition due to her monstrous chakra reserves, Sage Mode enhancement, and powerful vitality.

Chinatsu happily played with Shisui's eye in her hand while the one-eyed crow drooped its head miserably beside her, looking as though its entire life had lost meaning.

Nearby, Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki exchanged a silent glance.

No words were necessary.

The next instant, both of them simultaneously used the Body Flicker Technique and disappeared at full speed without even looking back, terrified that Chinatsu might suddenly decide to stab another kidney.

Chinatsu looked at the two rapidly retreating figures and sighed helplessly.

Ultimately, their brainwaves simply didn't align. She had never intended to kill them on the spot anyway.

This wasn't because Chinatsu had forgiven Itachi, nor because she suddenly felt emotional toward him. After all, back during the Uchiha massacre, he really had stabbed her without hesitation and genuinely intended to eliminate her.

But what was she supposed to do now?

Kill Itachi immediately?

Rip out his Mangekyō Sharingan?

Walk up to Sasuke holding two bloody eyeballs and say:

"Look, Sasuke~ These are your brother's eyes. I killed him for you!"

That would absolutely destroy Sasuke mentally.

One of Sasuke's greatest motivations for becoming stronger was avenging the Uchiha clan with his own hands. If Chinatsu stole that goal from him entirely, it would definitely create enormous psychological consequences.

All Chinatsu could do was continue strengthening Sasuke's emotional resilience and worldview so that when he eventually learned the truth behind the massacre, he wouldn't collapse into darkness like in the original story.

At the very least, she hoped he could calmly face reality instead of immediately trying to destroy Konoha.

Still…

What choice Sasuke would make in the future remained impossible to predict.

Sometimes, Chinatsu herself felt lost.

After all, the fate of everyone had already diverged far away from the original manga timeline.

After storing Shisui Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan inside a sealing scroll within her ninja pouch, Chinatsu finally returned toward Konoha.

The second and third stages of the Chūnin Exams were separated by several days, so the successful candidates had already gone home to rest and prepare. Naruto and Sasuke had originally wondered why their sister suddenly vanished immediately after the exams ended, but after waiting for a while, they eventually headed back toward the Uchiha district themselves.

On the way home, the siblings happened to meet Chinatsu returning.

"Yo, you two just got back?"

"Hm… hm?"

Sasuke suddenly narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

"Sister… your scent feels strange."

"Ah… what?"

Chinatsu awkwardly raised her arm and sniffed herself.

No strange smell.

No blood.

No perfume either.

Then what exactly was Sasuke smelling?

And more importantly

Since when did your nose evolve into an Inuzuka clan sensory organ?!

If Naruto had said something like this, Chinatsu might not have cared too much. After all, Naruto's senses were naturally sharp due to Kurama's chakra and his Uzumaki bloodline.

But the one who noticed it was Sasuke.

Naruto paused after hearing Sasuke's words and immediately sniffed in Chinatsu's direction as well.

"Huh? I don't smell anything weird at all. Sister smells the same as always."

Naruto nodded confidently, clearly trusting his own nose completely.

"Maybe… maybe it's just my imagination."

Although Sasuke said that, he still unconsciously leaned slightly closer as if wanting to confirm things again.

The next instant

SMACK!

Chinatsu's palm pressed directly onto Sasuke's head and forcefully pushed him downward.

"What are you sniffing around for?! How could I possibly smell strange? Sasuke, your nose must be malfunctioning!"

Chinatsu spoke righteously while cold sweat silently dripped down her back.

"Clearly your sensory training is too weak. Starting today, you're adding smell training to your schedule!"

"Ahhh…"

Sasuke looked utterly wronged.

Naruto instantly burst into laughter beside him, mocking Sasuke mercilessly.

Meanwhile, Chinatsu maintained a calm expression externally while panicking internally.

Strange smell?

Was it Itachi's scent from earlier?

What kind of ridiculous Uchiha instinct is this?!

Chinatsu silently took a deep breath and made a serious decision.

Starting today, Sasuke's ideological education would officially intensify.

The "Eight Etiquettes and Four Virtues."

The "Twenty-Four Core Values."

Everything would be increased immediately!

Itachi Uchiha: Didn't you say you already taught him those before?

Chinatsu: I lied. Besides, you don't even know what those are anyway.

Chinatsu casually patted Naruto and Sasuke on the back before leading them home.

As for Gaara?

At that very moment, he was being desperately persuaded by his older siblings.

Temari looked at Gaara carefully.

"Gaara… after the Chūnin Exams end, let's return to Sunagakure together, okay?"

"No."

Gaara rejected her instantly.

"Almost nobody in Sunagakure likes me anyway. Why should I go back there just to face their fear and hatred again?"

Temari froze.

Beside her, Kankuro scratched his head helplessly.

"Even if that's true, you still have Grandma Chiyo. If you never return to the village, she'll worry about you too, right?"

Hearing the name "Chiyo," Gaara finally fell silent.

Without Shukaku constantly screaming inside his head, his thoughts had become much clearer recently. Naturally, he also remembered how the old woman had secretly cared about him despite the Fourth Kazekage's cruel treatment.

The rest of Sunagakure might not matter.

But Grandma Chiyo absolutely did.

Seeing Gaara hesitate, both Temari and Kankuro immediately revealed hopeful expressions.

Before, mentioning Chiyo would never have affected Gaara emotionally.

Now, however, he was genuinely thinking about her feelings.

The siblings quickly continued persuading him, hoping to convince him to return peacefully.

After a long silence, Gaara slowly raised his head.

"I've decided."

Temari and Kankuro immediately brightened.

"You decided?!"

"Yes."

Gaara nodded seriously.

"Go back to Sunagakure and bring Grandma Chiyo to Konoha instead."

"..."

"The environment here is much better than the desert. Konoha has forests, rivers, and stable weather. I think Grandma Chiyo's health would improve living here."

Silence filled the room.

Technically…

Gaara wasn't wrong.

Compared to Sunagakure's endless sandstorms and harsh climate, Konoha's environment was objectively superior in almost every way.

But bringing Elder Chiyo to Konoha permanently?

The higher-ups in Sunagakure would absolutely think they had defected politically.

Temari and Kankuro both felt an ominous headache forming.

Meanwhile, Gaara himself looked completely unconcerned about Sunagakure's elders. In his eyes, most of the village leadership were merely annoying people who had feared him since childhood.

"What?"

Gaara narrowed his eyes slightly.

"You don't want Grandma Chiyo to live somewhere better?"

Cold sweat instantly appeared on both Temari and Kankuro's foreheads.

Damn it!

He actually learned emotional pressure tactics from Chinatsu already!

The siblings exchanged helpless looks before sighing deeply.

Their younger brother had definitely changed.

The only question now was whether he still belonged more to Sunagakure…

or to the Uchiha household in Konoha.
