Chapter 1 - What are Pralines?

John went on the Internet.

He thought of a new word, praline, and searched it up to find out if it was a real word.

He went on Wikipedia, and found out.

Pralines are confections containing nuts.

Would that make a cake topped with nuts a praline, then?

"I don't know," John said.

Upon further research, he found out a praline could be defined as a confection built around nuts and sugar as the main theme.

There are three main types of praline: French, Belgian and American pralines.

French pralines are confections which use pralin: a paste or powder made from caramelized nuts.

Belgian pralines are chocolate shells containing caramelized nut paste, ganache or cream inside.

American pralines are soft and fudge-like, made out of nuts, sugar and cream.

"I want to try all three of them."
