Chapter 3 - Shyness

"Is there something on my face?"

"No, I just wanted to look."

Kai propped his chin with his hand, answering with a serious expression.

"After all, my wife is super beautiful."

"Hmm…"

She didn't seem to expect such an answer.

Acting Grand Master Jean froze for a moment, her delicate face flushing crimson.

"It's worth mentioning,"

Kai lifted his face.

Looking at her blushing expression, he adopted a serious tone.

He continued, "You're also super cute when you're shy."

The dishes were quickly cleared, and she walked Kai to the door.

Acting Grand Master Jean's face, which had been flushed, gradually returned to its normal color after some time had passed.

Before leaving, Kai naturally wrapped his arm around her waist.

His forehead gently touched her head.

He earnestly instructed, "Now, listen."

"After the Hilichurl are dealt with, if there's any other work, push it to tomorrow."

"Rest well at home tonight, understand?"

"Otherwise, even your body won't be able to handle it if this continues, right?"

"Don't worry, Kai."

In front of Kai, Acting Grand Master Jean showed no trace of her Knights of Favonius leader's aura.

She nodded her head obediently.

After thinking for a moment, she suddenly stood on her tiptoes.

And lightly pecked Kai's cheek.

"Alright, I'm leaving then."

He affectionately stroked Acting Grand Master Jean's hair.

Kai sighed in relief, then turned and left the Knights of Favonius Headquarters.

Behind him, Acting Grand Master Jean's farewell voice rang out.

"Be careful on your way."

"Okay."

…Mondstadt's winter is very cold.

The clear sky was already gradually filled with scattered dandelions.

Although it was early spring in March, the recent influence of Stormterror had caused the climate around Mondstadt City to be somewhat unusual.

Fortunately, the pigeons on the bridge outside the city still arrived on time.

Therefore, daily food reserves were not significantly affected.

Don't ask what food has to do with pigeons.

Would I casually talk about something that would give the Knights of Favonius a headache if they found out?

"Yo, Master Kai."

Just as Kai was walking towards his residence.

Suddenly… a somewhat familiar greeting sounded from behind him.

Kai instinctively turned his head to look.

Appearing not far away.

Was a figure dressed in a purple-blue Knights of Favonius uniform, wearing an eye patch.

The standard longsword in his hand shimmered in the sunlight.

Paired with a light blue cloak and a tall, straight posture.

From any angle, he looked extremely reliable.

And with this dashing attire, he successfully held the title of one of Mondstadt City's "Most Popular People Among Young Maidens."

Naturally, Kai was not on this list.

After all, someone who dared to snatch a man from Acting Grand Master Jean…

Surely such a person didn't exist in Mondstadt City, right?

"Yo, Ocean Bridge Master."

So, he stopped walking.

Responding to the greeting.

Kai also raised his hand in return.

"Eh…"

Kaeya's expression stiffened for a moment.

Hearing that title, he sighed helplessly.

Then, covering his forehead, he complained.

"I say, Master Kai, could you please stop using such strange nicknames for me?"

"Ah~ but I don't think I was wrong."

Kai shrugged.

"After all, last time, to stop Klee from fishing with bombs, didn't you just freeze Cider Lake and walk across the ice to take Klee to solitary confinement?"

"That incident was just an accident; in fact, I rarely do such things."

Having his past embarrassing history exposed directly by Kai.

Kaeya awkwardly waved his hand, signaling that the other party didn't need to dwell on such a small matter.

"So, are you going out on a mission next?"

Glancing at Kaeya's travel attire and the squad of Knights of Favonius gradually catching up behind him.

Kai asked casually.

"Indeed, I have a mission."

Kaeya nodded.

"Snezhnaya has sent a delegation to Mondstadt."

"We just received intelligence that they have already entered Mondstadt territory, so I plan to go to Springvale to welcome them."

As he spoke of this plan, Kaeya gazed at Kai.

He quietly asked, "Master Kai, aren't you curious about the purpose of Snezhnaya's delegation coming to Mondstadt City this time?"

"You Knights of Favonius can worry about that."

Facing Kaeya's question.

Kai showed a calm smile, seemingly not taking it to heart at all.

"After all, I'm just an ordinary good citizen of Mondstadt."

"There shouldn't be much connection between Snezhnaya's delegation and me."

"Perhaps."

Kaeya nodded thoughtfully.

Seeing that the team had assembled, he simply waved his hand.

Then walked towards outside the city.

"Well then, see you later, Master Kai."

"Mm, see you."

Kai replied.

There was, of course, a reason why Kai was called Master.

In fact, after deciding to settle down in this world, to ensure future financial security.

Kai also invested in quite a few industries.

Like Mondstadt's Good Hunter restaurant, Liyue's Xinyue Kiosk.

Even the Angels Share tavern.

Kai had shares in all of them, making him an otherworldly version of an angel investor.

As for why he didn't just buy out an entire store.

Uh… that involves the theory of salarymen and good-for-nothings.

In short.

Salarymen are mostly because they lack money.

That's why they are forced to be busy every day, gradually becoming workaholics.

If it weren't for the lack of money.

Who wouldn't want to be a good-for-nothing who lies on the sofa all day, idly waiting for death, and still gets paid every month?

Coincidentally… Kai felt that his previous days of adventuring were too hard.

He had finally decided to settle down.

Being a good-for-nothing seemed pretty good too.

Diversified investments, collecting dividends every month, then lying on the sofa and waiting for money to come in.

Spending free time with his wife and taking care of the family.

Isn't that good?

Going to buy out a store, then worrying about future development.

Caring about employee salaries.

Uh… if that were the case, it would be more cost-effective to go back to playing world-traveling adventures.

"But speaking of great adventures…"

Returning home, he gazed at the ingredients he had prepared for a long time.
