Inside Vilyam's room, a series of high pitched noises continued to ring out along with a short-lived burst of intense light.
The room itself was quite dimly lit, and the window, which offered a view of the asteroid field outside, was sealed shut.
It was constructed from a series of dura-steel plates that folded downward and locked into place below, effectively blocking the outside view.
Vilyam had a faint sheen of sweat forming over his face, dripping from his baby-smooth chin and onto the table and floor below him as he focused intensely on the task at hand.
In his hand was a small, but slightly heavy piece of metal which he was fixing to a hollow tube which would act as the housing module for the power core.
With a distinctive snap and sizzle he fused the two items together forming a single piece that fit easily into his palm.
Vilyam reached over and snatched the power core from the pile of parts and slid it into the compartment, the power core giving off a clicking sound as it snapped perfectly into place.
Good it fits, it would have been a problem otherwise... Now to apply the power regulator!
The object in question gave off a dull but ever present glow and Vilyam did not want to risk touching it with his bare hands just yet as he had no idea just how stable it was.
It was precisely within that state of uncertainty that he made the decision to utilize the Force, his fingers moving with remarkable dexterity as he extended his will towards the designated component.
Clink... Clink... Snap!
The glowing component made a distinct clinking sound against the metal table before it slowly and carefully maneuvered its way towards the power core housing, where it was then snapped firmly into its designated place.
Now for the grip, however, this part will be tricky.
As there was no dedicated part to act as the grip Vilyam reduced a dura-steel plate into thin, wirey and springy coils which he wrapped around the power core housing from top to bottom.
He sliced a precisely sized hole into one side before removing the dura-steel wrap so that he could install the activation button.
CRACKLE... CRACKLE...
He expertly soldered the button to the housing module using a series of wires that connected with a remarkable degree of seamlessness.
As a result, the device was now fully ready to function according to its intended purpose upon activation.
He carefully wrapped the housing module again with the dura-steel, making sure the button fit perfectly through the small circular hole he had created earlier.
Having meticulously positioned the base of the grip directly around the housing module that contained the power core, he then proceeded to carefully take the synth-leather material he had scavenged from a blaster grip and meticulously used it to completely cover the dura-steel components, thereby effectively completing the handle.
Now the hard part...
Vilyam looked over towards a pulsating green light that seemed to resonate faintly with the Force surrounding it.
He lifted it with the Force, revealing a small but clearly potent crystal that seemed to drink in the Force he applied to it, albeit at a slow pace.
Vilyam moved with a casual saunter towards the center of the room, the Kyber crystal floating gently behind him, almost as if it were a dog faithfully following its owner.
Eventually, he settled into a comfortable lotus position on the floor, the Kyber crystal floating between his hands as he shut his sapphire blue eyes and focused his entire will and being onto the crystal before him.
As he used the Force to attune the crystal to his being he began to have a series of visions detailing the previous owner.
A human smuggler who had no idea that he was Force-sensitive appeared in Vilyam's mind, and he witnessed the very moment the smuggler found the crystal, the second he decided to risk using it in his blaster as a focusing crystal.
Vilyam watched as the man defended himself from an agent from the Sith Empire, the blaster carving a wide and bloody hole through the agents chest and causing the smuggler to stare in wonder at his blaster.
Afterwards, the Sith Empire had placed a rather hefty bounty on the smuggler's head, and he found himself on the receiving end of a neverending series of bounty hunter attacks.
The smuggler had managed to keep himself a few steps ahead of the bounty hunters for a time, even retiring on a distant planet where he fell in love and had a family.
One day as he was caressing his wife's chin, preparing to kiss her, the door burst inwards from an explosive device and before he could draw his weapon a series of deadly blaster bolts screamed towards him, piercing his wife and him in a single shot.
Through the smoke, a heavily armored Mandalorian strode inside the once peaceful home and grabbed the smuggler by his collar, dragging his still bleeding corpse outside where a distant ship waited for the Mandalorian's quarry.
However as the Mandalorian took a few steps towards his ship a green blaster bolt struck his shoulder, singing his armor and causing the highly trained bounty hunting Mandalorian to roll forward and in a swift motion fire an explosive dart towards the shooter.
However rather than a grown man or woman as the Mandalorian had expected what appeared before him was a mere child.
BOOM!
The child holding the blaster was suddenly engulfed by explosive flames, unable to even let out a cry of pain before his existence was erased forever.
Unknowingly as Vilyam witnessed these past events his emotions began to seep into the Kyber crystal, its once pure green surface beginning to show trace amounts of deep crimson but eventually these spots regained their green hue as the visions continued.
Through the clear crystal lens, he watched intently as his Master discovered the blaster lying amongst the scorched ground.
A single tear traced a path down her cheek as she seemed to sense the weight of the weapon's history.
Her tear-streaked face slowly lowered, focusing on the small red spot on the otherwise vibrant green grass.
The vision shifted to the inside of a ship, barely lit by red emergency lights.
The sound of hydraulics hissing filling the corridor as she maneuvered towards her target.
Out of nowhere, she sensed a distinct disturbance in the Force that lay ahead of her, and in response, she immediately activated her lightsaber, a brilliant yellow blade of plasma erupting from the hilt.
The light caught the reflective surface of a Mandalorian helmets visor at the other end of the corridor.
"I knew someone would come for me, for what I did, but I'm not going to be the one dying here."
The Mandalorian lifted twin blaster pistols and fired a chaotic deluge of bolts towards Knight Mirelia only for Mirelia to hold out her hands and stopping them in their tracks.
The bolts crackled intensely and Mirelia was about to send them back to the murderous Mandalorian but before she could do so the clinking of a metal object skittering across the dura-steel floor reached her ears and she looked down to see a grenade.
BWOOSH!
A wave of concussive force swept out from the grenade sending Mirelia flying backwards with her yellow lightsaber in a diagonal defensive posture in an attempt to divert some of the incoming force.
Mirelia slid to a stop and reached out with the Force to pull the Mandalorian towards her, but upon feeling his footing betray him, the skilled Mandalorian activated thrusters attached to his boots, negating the pull, but before he could celebrate his quick thinking, the pull shifted to a push, sending the Mandalorian flying backwards.
The armored Mandalorian, unable to resist the momentum, crashed violently into the wall at the end of the corridor, the impact unfortunately collapsing a set of pipes that were caught within his path, now spewing out hot steam.
Looking at his blasters, the Mandalorian realized that his weapons were crushed under the impact and let out a valiant cry before removing two Beskar blades, known as Beskads from behind him, the blades gleaming ominously in the dull red light.
Upon witnessing this scene unfold, a noticeable change came over Mirelia; her eyes narrowed with a resolute intensity, her facial expression adopting a solemn and serious demeanor, and her breathing became noticeably steady as she mentally prepared herself for a genuine and full-fledged melee.
"Prepare for the danse macabre, may you fight better than you protect your friends!"
Not waiting for Mirelia's reply the Mandalorian lunged towards her with a swiftness that defied the heft of his armor, his blades swinging in mirrored arcs towards Mirelia.
Mirelia expertly deflected one of her lightsaber blades with a precise block, while simultaneously using the Force with her offhand to slow down and halt the advance of the other blade.
The two began a furious melee the left the corridor littered with plasma burns and sliced dura-steel.
Mirelia ducked between one blade before spinning into a jump to avoid the other, all the while sending her palm crashing against the beskar chest plate of the Mandalorian, a wave of penetrating force sweeping through his defenses and sending him sliding backwards.
As he slid backwards he pointed his arm forward and unleashed a grappling hook that wrapped around Mirelia's waist and pulled her back into range of his deadly blades.
CLASH!
The Beskar blades crashed against Mirelia's lightsaber, and the two appeared to be at a physical stalemate before the Mandalorian delivered a knee strike to her ribs, knocking the air from her lungs and causing her to fall to her knees as she gasped for breath.
The Mandalorian approached Mirelia and grasped one of her head tails, forcefully lifting her head to meet his gaze.
"You lost Jedi, today you may die but know that your lightsaber will make a fine trophy!"
He lifted one of his beskar blades, clearly intending to sever her slender neck from her shoulders.
Mirelia's eyes snapped shut making the Mandalorian think that she had accepted her fate but he was unaware of the faint movement of one of the remaining grenades on his belt.
CLICK!
The sound registered in his ears causing his blades to pause mere inches from Mirelia's neck, the Mandalorian began to visibly panic as he struggled to disconnect the grenade from the magnetic belt.
Before he could successfully remove it however Mirelia reached out with both hands and sent the Mandalorian flying backwards while lifting helplessly into the air, his arms forcibly outstretched, effectively preventing him from disconnecting the grenade.
"This is for the child you murdered!"
She pushed further and sent the Mandalorian crashing once more into the furthest wall of the corridor before the grenade suddenly erupted.
The Mandalorian found himself completely engulfed in searing, sticky flames, which rapidly seeped into the cracks of his beskar plates and began ruthlessly scorching him from the inside out.
The beskar armor, typically designed to protect, ironically acted only to seal in the inferno, causing the Mandalorian's very flesh to eventually fuse with the inside of the legendary metal plates.
The moment the now dead Mandalorian fell to the ground the vision ended and Vilyam could only see a vast expanse filled with flickering green lights that appeared like distant flames that were somehow also close enough to touch.
He was floating amidst the vast emerald expanse as he began channeling his very being into the crystal, a wave of psychic force sweeping through the crystals interior and impacting each of the tiny green flames.
Out of seemingly nowhere, delicate strands of golden light began to emerge from the very core of his being, and then they started to flow towards the nearest light sources.
This process was repeated with each individual flame, which was acting as a crucial point or 'node' within the growing network of connections that was being established throughout the Kyber crystal itself.
It feels as if the Kyber crystal is slowly accepting me as it's new Master!
His thoughts grew excited as the connections within the Kyber crystals began to reach completion.
Vilyam opened his eyes and the emerald Kyber crystal surged with intense but subdued Force energy, glowing as it spun in the air as if waiting patiently for what came next.
With a subtle yet powerful use of the Force, Vilyam expertly reached out and carefully pulled the still half-built lightsaber into the palm of one hand, while simultaneously bringing the brilliantly glowing emerald Kyber crystal into the other.
Having carefully prepared the crystal chamber itself, as well as the stabilization ring, he then proceeded to slowly and deliberately slide the green crystal into its designated new home. Finally, he placed the stabilization ring over the crystal to secure it.
Vilyam watched with a palpable sense of anticipation as the Kyber crystals chamber floated gracefully into position before the half-built lightsaber, twisting smoothly into place with a distinct and resounding clicking sound.
Almost there, soon I will have my first lightsaber!
