Florine stared out of the car window, her thoughts in turmoil.
She still wasn't sure whether trusting France was the right decision.
After all, her son had never left her with a favorable impression. Ever since he had fallen into gambling, he had done little besides ask her for money and drag the family into one problem after another.
Under normal circumstances, she would never have agreed to follow him.
But these were hardly normal circumstances.
Nora was sitting in custody, and if things continued the way they were, she could spend years behind bars.
Florine had run out of options.
"Mom."
France's voice pulled her back to reality.
"We're here."
She looked out the window and immediately frowned.
The mansion before her was grand enough to rival the wealthiest estates in the city. Iron gates surrounded the sprawling property, while a long driveway led to an imposing residence that radiated prestige.
Her brows knitted together.
Where on earth has he brought me?
