Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : Part 1[Beyond Belief]

The Uncharted Kingdom was once a land of peace and prosperity, a land where all species could co-exist as one.

Now it is a kingdom with no history, a land divided by race than by misunderstanding. Its a land completely unmapped and foreign to residents.

Location : Mountain Top

Huff... Huff... Huff!

A young man stood at the edge of the mountainside, his breathing laboured slightly.

The wind was heavy and rough as the rain fell.

His gaze locked onto the darkness below.

"Oh boy, it's further than it looks. Either climb down or just fall down." He muttered to himself.

He looked down again and took a deep breath.

"Come on Sunny, you've got this."

He closed his eyes and steadied himself.

Taking a few steps back, he ran...and jumped off the mountain, into the unknown territory below.

Two Weeks Later...

Sunny watched from a distance as the vultures circled the entrance to the town.

He kept himself hidden in the treeline of the forest, a safe distance away.

The creatures were massive. Their wings large enough to eclipse the land beneath them.

He had been waiting two days for them to leave, but they proved far more territorial than he anticipated.

"They really don't want to leave." He muttered. "By the Goddess, I really don't want to deal with this."

He had recently broken his left arm. He hadn't eaten anything in at least four days.

"Ugh. This is gonna be a nightmare."

He started walking toward the gate anyway.

His hair blew in the wind with every step. The closer he got, the bigger the town seemed to grow, ancient, abandoned.

The vultures were perched atop the gate, wings spread wide in a silent show of dominance and claim.

Sunny picked up his pace. Walking, jogging sprinting and finally running.

The vultures noticed him and descended immediately.

They hit the ground with a force that shattered the earth beneath them. Sunny tried to dodge but was thrown back by a wide margin.

"Shit!" He shouted.

One of them scooped him up into its beak. He struggled, fought, but was tossed into the air and swallowed whole.

The vultures screeched loudly as they took flight, soaring over the town in search of anything else worth eating.

Then one of them began exhaling heavy smoke. Its breathing grew laboured. Red welts bloomed across its throat from the inside out.

It coughed once, twice.

Then its stomach exploded.

Organs rained down onto an old shop below, crashing through the rotted ceiling with a sickening creak.

Sunny burned through the wreckage and crawled out from the ruin, drenched in blood and viscera, gasping for air as intense pain shoot through him.

"Oh shit." He wiped his face with the back of his gloved hand. "By the Goddess, I am never doing that again."

He looked around. The faint smell of decay crept into his nose immediately.

His eyes followed it and landed on a decomposed body slumped against the far wall.

It looked like it had been there for a long time, but it was missing its head.

He winced and looked away as nausea gripped him but didn't have anything to throw up.

Then he heard it. A faint movement like something shifting in the back of the room.

He pushed the debris aside and found a body unlike anything he'd seen before human in shape, but with faint metallic features running beneath the skin like veins of iron.

"Wow, I wonder what...."

He stopped.

His gaze had landed on a toppled bucket nearby. And inside it, half-buried under rubble, was a severed head.

Sunny's eyes went wide. Slowly, he reached down and picked it up.

He held it carefully, staring at the face for a long, silent moment.

"They must have been inside when everything happened." He said quietly. "...I'm sorry."

"Yeah, you better be... idiot."

Sunny froze as shiver crawled down his spine.

The head opened its eyes and stared back at him, lips curling into a slow smile.

"Well... well... well. What do we have here?"

"What the hell are you?" Sunny asked, gripping the head tightly in his hand.

His broken left arm trembled slightly.

"Sasha Armstrong." She replied. "And please stop staring. It's quite rude."

Sunny opened his mouth but not a single words came out. He stood there in silence for a few seconds.

"...Sorry." He muttered.
