Chapter 8 - “What’s More Important Than Eating a Delicious Meal?”

When Jeremy opened his eyes, he was now back in his bedroom.

He gazed outside the window and noticed that the sunset was still there.

He then turned to look at the clock and saw that the time was just a few minutes ahead from when he fell unconscious.

His time in the deity's domain was not long, but it's not that short.

'I talked to Goddess Aurora for more than an hour.'

The deity kept showing Jeremy several of her powers to tempt him to become her saint.

While Jeremy on the other hand, didn't give any reaction until an hour passed, when she showcased a certain skill that made Jeremy agree to become her saint.

Jeremy remembered how he and the deity kept going back and forth for a while before they both reached a consensus and Jeremy was returned to his bedroom.

After seeing firsthand her powers, he calmly accepted the discrepancy between the flow of time in this world and the deity's domain.

'There's nothing strange about it.'

Jeremy thought.

He has already experienced the hard to believe transmigration, and his current body could use magic, so what's so unacceptable about a time difference between different dimensions?

As Jeremy accepted all kinds of things happening in his life right now, he heard a knock on his door.

"Young Master?"

Hearing Jude's call, Jeremy immediately told him to come in.

"Young Master, the dinner is ready. Are you going to the dining hall or should I bring your meal here?"

Jude asked as soon as he came in, but instead of an answer, what he received was a question.

"Are my dad and brothers not yet at home?"

Jeremy asked, and Jude shook his head in response.

It's not unusual for the duke and his two older sons to come back home late.

It happens almost all the time as they are all busy with their work responsibilities.

Jeremy softly smiled in understanding and spoke.

"Please bring my meal here, Jude. If you have not eaten yet, join me."

After a while, Jeremy started eating his dinner.

He looked at his massive bedroom while chewing a grilled venison steak before sighing loudly.

His dad and brothers aren't home yet, while his loyal butler, whom he expected to eat with him, left his room after delivering his food, with the reason that he still had something important to do.

"What's more important than eating a delicious meal?"

Jeremy mumbled as he took another bite of the remaining steak.

. . .

While Jeremy is savoring his dinner alone, unbeknownst to him, a fight between several people is currently happening behind the ducal estate.

There are five people wearing full-black outfits, covering their whole being entirely apart from their eyes.

The five people were engaging in a combat with a young man wearing a butler uniform.

The young man in the butler uniform has an angelic visage, but his expression is far from being an angel.

His face is completely emotionless but his eyes possessed an intense murderous glint.

His hands, each holding a dagger, swing fluidly and swiftly and his long legs kick fiercely toward his enemies.

His movements are graceful, smooth, and beautiful as if he was dancing.

But despite that, the five individuals who are against him couldn't appreciate the young man's moves.

Rather, they felt a strong fear the more they engaged with the man.

Despite their advantages in number, they can't seem to defeat him.

The black-clothed people have sustained moderate cuts and bruises all over their body while fighting the man, but the young butler in front of them looks so clean and unscathed.

"Wait… stop! Who are you? Why are you attacking us?"

One of the black-clothed individuals quickly asked while dodging the dagger that almost pierced through his throat.

He jumped back a few meters away from the young butler and raised his hands in surrender.

The others also followed and backed up while raising their hands in surrender.

They all know that they can't defeat this man.

Jude, the young butler, looked at the five individuals in black and said.

"Who are you? Why are you lurking around the ducal estate?"

Jude's tone was cold as he asked them.

He suspects that these people are assassins sent by the enemies of his young master's family.

At this time, the only one inside the estate aside from the servants was his young master.

These people only appeared right now when the young master was not with his family.

The five people didn't answer but exchanged glances instead.

Jude's suspicion grew stronger and his expression turned colder.

It is not the first time that Jude encountered assassins sent toward his young master's family.

And it is not the first that Jude excused himself from his young master to deal with the assassins.

If these people truly did come here with the intention of hurting his young master…

Jude raised the daggers he was holding and was about to strike the group again, but before he could attack, one of the black-clad individuals shrieked.

"Wait! Wait! Please spare us, sir! We don't mean any harm, we are just on a mission to protect someone important and was ordered to position here."

Jude furrowed his brows while listening to the explanation.

He looked at their battered appearance and felt complicated whether to believe them or not.

'Protect? Them?'

Jude doubted that these five individuals were the one needing protection.

He felt pity for whoever these five people were assigned to protect, but it's none of his business.

But if they need to protect someone, Jude can't help but be suspicious why they are here and not on the side of the one they need to protect.

Jude opened his mouth.

"Who are you protecting? Shouldn't you be near them so that you could properly protect them?"

A person different from before warily answered him this time.

"We're not obligated to tell you their identity, so please leave us alone."

Jude smiled at each of them as he responded.

"Alright, I'll leave you alone."

He then walked away with a thought that these people are like stray wild kittens that have lost their way into the kingdom of lions.

Recollecting how he thought they were assassins a few moments ago, Jude couldn't help but laugh at himself.

He remembers how the five people couldn't even land a hit on him despite their numbers.

If they are really assassins sent to harm his young master, Jude wonders if those weak people could even successfully reach Jeremy's bedroom.

As he continued his way inside the ducal estate, he encountered his fellow employees under the duke's family.

He saw soldiers, guards, and different kinds of servants.

If those five individuals intrude and dare to pose even a tiny bit of threat toward any member of the duke's family, Jude wonders who among the employees of this estate would be the first one to finish the intruders.

Thinking of this, Jude moved in a direction toward his young master's bedroom.

After all, he still needs to assist his young master in bathing.

When he reached his young master's bedroom, Jeremy was busy eating a dessert while reading a white book.

Seeing his young master looking relaxed and untroubled, a pampering smile bloomed on Jude's face making him look innocent and sweet.

"Jude, you're back? Do you want to eat?"

Jeremy happily asked while scooping another spoon of cheesecake.

"Thank you, Young Master, but I've already eaten. Would you like for me to prepare the bath in advance, Young Master?"

Jude gently answered while looking at the almost finished food on the table.

Jeremy nodded his head as he felt that it was a good time to bath now.

He felt full and sleepy, but before going to sleep, he needed to wash himself first.

Jude prepared the bath and helped Jeremy bathe.

After bathing, Jeremy couldn't help it anymore and fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow.

Seeing him already asleep, Jude smiled and fixed his young master's blanket before turning off the lights and leaving the room.

. . .

After the night passed peacefully for Jeremy, he opened his eyes and saw the bright morning sun outside his window.

"Hmmm~"

Jeremy made a sound as he carefully sat on his bed.

"Good morning, Young Master! Please drink this to warm your stomach."

Jude smiled pleasantly at Jeremy as he offered a glass of warm milk.

Jeremy accepted it and drank it smoothly before expressing his thanks.

While Jude was assisting him in grooming his appearance, Jeremy finds out that his father and brothers went home late last night and wanted to have breakfast with him together before they go to work.

Of course, Jeremy didn't decline and dined with them to eat in the morning.

After eating with them, Jeremy was hugged for a while.

"Ahhh, I don't want to work… I wanna play with Jeremy~"

Desmond muttered while clinging to Jeremy like a koala.

"We're going to work, Jeremy. See you later."

Darius patted Jeremy's head and ruffled his hair before leaving the house, dragging with him the reluctant Desmond.

Finally, the duke embraced Jeremy for several minutes before separating when Frederick reminded him of his work.

Once the three men left, Jeremy immediately rushed back to his room and started doing his own thing.

For this day, Jeremy planned to familiarize himself with magic… After all, there's only a few days before the academy starts.

He needs to be prepared so that when he enters the academy later, he won't embarrass himself or his family by not knowing the basics of magic.
