"You're curious."
Kael glanced at the silver-eyed girl. "That obvious?"
"You keep looking at the same corridor."
At the far end of the Academy was a section no one entered.
No guards.
No signs.
Just… absence.
"Something's there," Kael said.
"Of course there is."
"And you're not curious?"
She met his gaze.
"I am."
That night—they went.
Not alone.
Two others joined them, both quiet, both clearly nervous.
The corridor felt colder than the rest of the Academy.
The deeper they went, the quieter it became.
Until even their footsteps seemed… swallowed.
They found a door.
Old. Heavy.
Unlocked.
Inside—
Records.
Rows and rows of them.
Names.
Files.
Pictures.
Kael stepped closer, scanning one.
A student.
Ranked.
Strong.
Status: DECEASED
His stomach dropped.
"They didn't leave," one of the others whispered.
"They died."
More files.
More names.
Too many.
"This isn't a school," Kael said quietly.
"No," the silver-eyed girl replied.
"It's something else."
And whatever it was—
It wasn't meant to be survived.
That alone made the students consider escaping from the academy but kael had lo g since concluded that there was no escape for them.
As the left the forbidden wing no one spoke or made any comments as there was an unspoken agreement not to reveal the discoveries they made as they knew they would likely end up with the same fate as those deceased in the building.
That night kael lay on his bed still thinking about the day's events and wondering if he really made the right decision by joining the academy as he now feared that he too will be killed because of his discoveries made earlier.
But he just wanted to awaken as soon as possible so that at least he would have something that could protect him in times of danger during his 3 year stay in the academy.
That was the last thought on his mind as he dozed off to sleep
