Chapter 5 - Boulder

The beast glared at Verza with it's hungry eyes. Then, it struck, swinging its open palm diagonally at the small boy, it's speed was remarkable, its movement had one purpose: kill.

Verza quickly rolled beneath its moving arm. Then he kicked his feet down, jumping up high in the air. The flame in his palm instantly extended forming a spear. Quickly throwing it towards the beast.

To his surprise, it did nothing to pierce the beast's fur, as if it was made of sharp needles rather than normal hair. For the first time, Verza started ro reconsider this fight. What If he was smashed down by the weight of this beast?

Thinking was a disadvantage in his current state, the monster rose extremely quickly and curled its fists together, willing to throw a vertical strike on Verza's guardless body. However, the boy managed to jump out of the way by holding on the snow with both hands and dragging himself, only to be thrown a few feet away in the cold snow.

He rose quickly, opening both hands and clapping them together. When he opened them, a pale flame was spreading between his fingers, dancing and guarding his hands. It slowly spread upwards until it reached his elbows. The will to go toe to toe with this beast was overwhelming. That damned feeling again, ordering him. The other's will was overpowering his. His instinct told him to run, but his body only lunged forward.

He jumped up. His shoulder on the same level as the beast's head. His arm curled backwards, as the flame grew bigger and brighter. Then he swung forward. The beast had little time to react, and the blow this time was not as tickling as the previous spear, it was the real deal.

The beast's head twisted in an odd angle as it flew a few feat back. Not falling on its knees yet, it still stood up, its small eyes squinting in rage at Verza, while he was descending on the ground gracefully. His arms rose up to prepare for another attack.

The large beast seemed to possess some level of intelligence. Small, but enough to tell it that Verza was preparing for something big. It quickly raised its hands, wailing loudly and bumping its own chest with its fists, like a large version of an angry gorilla. Before it hit its fists to the ground, and pushed. Its huge body strangely flying up in the air, with the plan of falling over Verza, to crush him down.

The boy didn't run nor roll. He lifted both of his arms in the right time. Hitting the beast's chest with his tyrannical flame-coated fists, somehow blocking it from crushing him down with its weight, before pushing it away with a punch to its torso. Enough for his left palm to pull away slightly and open to gather a burning spear. His previous ego and underestimating in this beast were gone. The spear shone bright and mighty, like a God's will.

It was tossed with cruel precision, directly to the heart.

The beast's eyes widened immediately, it needed to be fast, very fast to dodge this overwhelming flame, it would burn his dark soul into light. It tried putting its arms on its chest to cover its heart in one desperate move.

Somehow, it succeeded, but on the sake of the arm that was torn and burnt. It jumped away furiously while screaming in an ear-piercing pitch, panic and hatred filling its waile as dark red blood gushed from the ugly burnt elbow, where the arm used to be, it was now burnt clean with cruel precision. Verza was no easy prey. And now? The beast couldn't escape.

Verza coldly glared at it, his mind filled with the will of the other, the urge to shatter its existence and suck its soul, empowering his own was overwhelming, but the remaining bits of him fought back, barely.

Just then, the pain in the beast's eyes vanished, full hatred was all that powered it. Great ugly horns grew on its forwhead, its muscles growing with a tight sound. It growled loudly as its pale eyes reddened.

It lunged at Verza with an obvious increase in it's speed. Its remaining fist was striking up and down that even the other's will and power couldn't help Verza that much. He jumped and rolled aimlessly, dodging and barely blocking. The beast was trying to make sure not to give him time to conjure flames to fight back.

In stamina, the beast clearly overpowered Verza, in attack speed it did too, in sheer force, the beast would win as well.

But if Verza had three seconds, only fatal three seconds, to collect his flames? It was dead.

Then, the beast slipped, its foot smashing a thin layer of ice beneath the snow, dipping into it. So this was what Verza was doing while dodging. Drawing the beast slowly to the thin ice, knowing it'll shatter beneath its huge wight.

One,

Verza jumped up, before the beast could hit him. Making it sink even deeper. With its height from the knees and bellow into ice.

Two,

He stood still, lifting up both his arms in the air. With his palms opened, he started to collect the flames and formulate them from thin air.

Three,

The golden flames were formed on the form of a huge boulder above Verza's head.

He swung both his arms fowards, throwing the weight.

It struck the beast face first, burning its upper part into nothingness. Its wails disappearing once the flames boulder hit.

Verza rose a victor.
