Isabella lived in an apartment that was small and had beige walls. She was sitting on her couch, which she had bought from a thrift store for fifty dollars. She was wearing her favorite pajamas, which were pink with white polka dots. She felt bored. She looked at her phone, but no one had texted her. She sighed and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
She heard a very loud noise outside. It sounded like a motorcycle. She went to the window and looked down. There was a man standing next to a very shiny black bike. He was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans. He looked up and saw her. He had very green eyes. He didn't smile.
"Hey!" he yelled. "Are you Isabella?"
Isabella was surprised. She opened the window. "Yes. Who are you?"
"I'm Jaxson," he said. "I'm your new neighbor. I just moved into the building across the street. I saw you at the grocery store earlier and I wanted to talk to you."
Isabella remembered being at the store. She had been buying bread and milk. She hadn't noticed him, but he was very hard to miss because he was very muscular and tall. He had black hair that was messy.
"Oh," Isabella said. She felt her face getting hot. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Come down here and I'll tell you," Jaxson said. He crossed his arms. His arm muscles were very big and they stretched the leather of his jacket.
Isabella decided to go down. She didn't even change out of her pajamas, she just put on some sneakers. She ran down the three flights of stairs. When she opened the front door, he was standing right there. He was much taller than her. She had to look way up to see his face. He smelled like expensive soap and tobacco.
"You're fast," he said. He reached out and touched her arm. His hand was very warm.
"I didn't want to keep you waiting," Isabella said. She felt a tingle in her arm where he was touching her. It felt like a small electric shock, but it didn't hurt. It felt good.
"I like that," Jaxson said. He moved closer. Now he was only five inches away from her. She could see a small scar on his chin. "I don't like waiting for things I want."
Isabella felt her heart beating very fast in her chest. It felt like it was going to pop out. "What do you want?"
Jaxson leaned down so his mouth was right next to her ear. She could feel his hot breath on her skin. It made her shiver even though it was a warm night.
"I want to take you for a ride on my bike," he whispered. "And then I want to take you to dinner. And then I want to see where this goes. I think you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, Isabella. I've been thinking about you all day."
Isabella couldn't believe it. A guy this hot was interested in her? She was just a normal girl who worked at a bookstore. She didn't have a boyfriend and she hadn't been on a date in a year.
"Okay," she said. "I'll go with you."
"Good," Jaxson said. He grabbed her hand and led her to the motorcycle. He gave her a helmet. It was heavy. He helped her put it on and buckled the strap under her chin. His fingers brushed her neck and she gasped.
"Get on," he commanded.
Isabella climbed onto the back of the bike. She had to wrap her arms around his waist to stay on. His stomach was very hard, like a rock. He started the engine and the whole bike vibrated. Isabella liked the way it felt. It made her feel excited and a little bit scared.
They drove through the city. Jaxson drove very fast. Isabella squeezed him tighter. She liked the feeling of the wind hitting her and the feeling of Jaxson's body against hers. They stopped at a red light and he reached back and patted her leg.
"You doing okay back there?" he asked loudly over the engine.
"Yes!" she shouted back.
He turned a corner and headed toward the highway. Isabella didn't know where they were going, but she didn't care. She just wanted to be near him.
