Chapter 2- The Years To Come
" Umm… did the devs push back the servers? What's going on?" pero wondered in confusion
" What happened to our consoles?"
" I don't know. I kind of figured that after the hug we'd all be back in our rooms but we're still hugging and now it's not emotional anymore it's just awkward." Punito moe responded.
" yeah the moment is ruined".
They all soon realized that their voices sounded different. More deeper, commanding and not "them". They all immediately let go of the hug. And felt different. They felt the ground. The breeze in their faces. And most of all they could breathe.
" Is this a new update?"
" Maybe I fell asleep during the game".
Soon, a few of them felt like they had extra limbs or no limbs at all. Some parts of their bodies felt heavier than usual. Others felt nothing at all. One thing's for sure. They felt different.
" Ulbert, why is your mouth moving?"
" Did your wings just twitch?"
" WHAT THE HELL!"
" Why do I hear everything?!"
"Woah this is trippy".
Takemikazuchi soon ran around and hit a wall not knowing where to go.
" Take! Are you alright?."
" Nyet!"
" Okay bud just look at me."
"Look at you?! Ah kent not look at you! Ahm look-een evry-ver! Ahm look-een at ze sky, at ze floor, at you end behynd you! Vhat is go-eeng on?!"
" The fuck?! Why do you sound like the villain from "Rocky?". Pero asked.
Everyone looked at each other. It took awhile for everyone to calm down and realize that they have taken up the bodies of their game avatars.
Lucifer then spoke. "Okay I've got it! We're all on drugs at the same time. I got high before coming here. Who else did the same?"a few select raised their hands.
"Maybe someone is pranking us?" Asked beast king.
"Okay! Very funny whoever that is! Jokes over! I wanna go home!" Yelled hero hero to no one in particular. Silence just followed.
"What if we're dead?" asked Ulbert.
"That's a possibility"
"If we're dead. Then where's the hot angels that are gonna carry me away to my personal heaven" Pero exclaimed.
" I always thought heaven didn't want me".
" no way we're dead!"
"My lords, is something the matter?"
A calm voice made itself heard. But they were surprised to hear who it was from. As they looked towards the voice they saw one of the npc that was an angel created by one of the former tenants of the kingdom of NIM. NIM had a variety of demihuman races as servants, even holy ones.
" You just spoke?" asked Genjiro.
A loud gasp could be heard from the female angel. " Forgive me for speaking out of turn in front of the new masters. Please I beg for forgiveness".
The heteromorphic group were in shock and disbelief at what was said. "What is going on here?" asked Infinyrex.
Yamaiko spoke. " Nothing of the sort my dear. But can you please leave us. We need to discuss things" the angel did as she was told and left the room.
" Okay, so let's recap. We've stayed past the hour of curfew in the game. And somehow have been "Narnia'd" to some place or to the real thing. And were in our game characters body?". Exclaimed lucifer.
" I wouldn't say we've been "narnia'd ", maybe more "avatar'd". The avian joked.
"Whatever!"
" Wait! Where's Unity? Vortex?" It dawned on Infinyrex that his family is missing. Not wasting any more time. He left in search of them. Yamaiko as well for the student she brought with her.
" Okay, okay what do we do?" Everyone wanted answers and were strangely calm about the situation and perhaps it may be because of their new bodies. Luckily two figures stepped up.
"Everyone! Listen up! Let's remain calm and try to assess our situation." Ulbert announced with Pero following after him. " Yeah! So… so far what do we know?".
Everyone revealing what they knew about their circumstances made them calm down a little. Which made them come to the realization that what they were experiencing feels real and is real.
After a while they decided to wait a bit to see if there was an error in the game. But nothing happened so far.
Infinyrex and Yamaiko came back with Unity and Vortex and Yamaiko's student. Thankfully they were not lost and were just somewhere downstairs and were a bit spooked by the situation as well.
They waited and waited for hours and hours never leaving their positions. They distracted themselves with idle chatter to pass the time. Others were hectic about the new sensations they were feeling. Trying to get used to their new bodies hoping the devs were gonna save them from their confusion. Maybe even a notification that there were issues with the curfew. But no one ever came.
Soon their wait lasted two days. Some slept, others didn't feel the need to do so. So they kept a look out for notifications.
"Well, since we're all definitely late for work, let's explore the place. I'm getting bored just sitting here". Buku said
"Sounds good ta me, mate — me bum's bloody killin' me from all the sittin' around and waitin'. Keen ta get movin'." Said Nishikenrai.
"Hahahaha! Yor ak-sent keelz me evry time! Howz ze jung-gul treat-eeng you, eh… Croc-o-dile Dun-dee? Hahahaha!" Laughed Takemikazuchi.
"Pretty well actually, mate. How 'bout you? KG— bastard—how's the Cold War goin'? Catch you any spies yet?"
A few laughed at the joke. Take and Nish had their characters' accents changed by Garnet (which he apologized for numerous times) and seeing their bickering despite both being best friends was hilarious at best. Like seeing two countries arguing.
While exploring. They encountered the npc's they had met at the party and all of them seemed to want to serve them.
"Alright, seems we're gonna be here a while and everything seems real now. Maybe that bar in that one island is too. Who's up for a drink?" Pero asked the group.
"Drink with what bro?! In case you've forgotten. I can't eat, sleep or drink with this disgusting body!". Buku cried out.
"Well then I guess you can just watch haha. Wait can you even watch? Do you have eyes I don't know about sis? "
"Stupid bird brain! If Thanksgiving ever comes around. I know what we're cooking."
"Try it! You'll find I taste delicious. Oh hey speaking of. Can I ask what diet you're on sis. Maybe it's keto seeing as you have almost no meat on you!".
At this comment. Buku immediately slapped the cocky avian in the face with her slime tentacle. And all the others could say was "ooooof". Feeling the pain from that slap alone.
They all made it to the island that had the cantina bar and waiting for them was one of the npc's ready to take their orders. They all picked their drinks and calmed down afterwards.

After a week passed by. They met most of the npc's and seen a few of the islands and the inside of the architecture.
They finally came to the realization that everything has come to life. That this is their reality now. And that they all agreed that none would want to go back to the awful world they hailed from.
In celebration of this conclusion. Pero decided they should throw a party to celebrate this occasion. Also so everyone could let loose as some were still adjusting to their circumstances.
They all met at the castle where the previous party was held. The npc's were more than happy to prepare the party and chaperone as well even though they were invited to join in. They still refused believing they were unworthy.
The others found it strange they were called such a term as 'supreme beings'.
The party took place at night. The others partied like never before. Drank drinks that would be too expensive for them in the other world. Laughed at the best jokes and had the longest conversations they've ever had in their lives since socializing for long periods of time was few since everyone was either working or… no that's it. Just working.
They were finally out of the rat race. Others even cursed the people they dealt with in the other world. Take cursed his ex-girlfriend who left him for his coworker and cursed his roommate for never doing the dishes.
Lucifer cursed his ex wife and celebrated never paying child support again.
Infinyrex celebrated never having to work with those corrupt cop pieces of shit he had to deal with. Yamasaki was happy to never see the principal at her work place and yelled all sorts of profanities from when he cancelled her planned field trip for the kids in her class to save the school budget.
For them. This was a new page in their lives to start anew. Some still think this'll end but decided to take advantage of their situation.
No matter how good things were right now. Their new chapter was going to remind them that life is not without its challenges.

A sudden roar was heard outside. One that can be heard through even the music they played. And they all stopped and stood silent.
" Take! Please tell me you just let one rip, mate."
"Eef eet vaz me… you vud be dead already."
Then out of nowhere. One part of the castle walls was destroyed and in came a wyvern attacking everyone at the party. Everyone freaked out until Ulbert thought that if they were transported here in these bodies then they should have their magic as well.
The wyvern was terrifying everyone as it continued to attack indiscriminately until Ulbert cast his spell.

And with that. The wyvern was defeated easily.
Everyone looked at the flaming wyvern as it stopped moving after being hit by Ulbert's spell. Luckily no one was killed though a few Npcs were hurt but nothing serious. Ulbert then saw the angel npc that greeted them. " What the hell was that?!" he asked.
"It must've come from the spawning point my lord" she answered.
" The what?" Ulbert was confused as to what that was and proceeded to ask again.
" the spawning point. Mysterious area in this dimension where monsters get spawned at random intervals and get stronger over time" she answered.
" Wait! I've heard of those" tabula responded. " it's a new feature of the game. A powerful cash shop item that if you leave in an area. It will summon monsters to attack your opponents and it gets stronger over time. Though I've yet to hear of any guild to beat one yet.
Suddenly. In Ulbert's mind. It all made sense. The sky keepers just randomly giving this place away to random strangers. They knew they couldn't beat it so they left us to do that for them while leaving us to lose in the game for fun. He turned towards everyone at the party.
"Everyone except the npc's. Meeting room.now."
With everyone in the meeting room. Ulbert began. " I knew something was up but I fell for it! I wanted to believe him." he proceeded to explain the situation with the spawn point. Tabula filled in the gaps and everyone understood and were in terror at the thought that they now needed to fight real monsters.
" I should've known! Nobody gets something for nothing! But did they know this was all going to be real?" That question lingered on everyone's mind. But gave up because the only people who could confirm it were the sky keepers themselves.
"Tabula! You know more about this thing. How do we stop it?" Everyone turned to Tabula for answers.
" the devs just recently made it. No one's defeated yet. All we can do is study it and see where that gets us." Tabula was the intellectual of the group with his race being a mindflayer and he had his intelligence increased to the max when they spent their points. Although he was a janitor that worked at a video store. He was also well versed in the lores of different fantasy games.
" Then we have no other choice than to fight!" Infinyrex announced. Everyone looked at him and then each other and felt empowered.
" If that is the case then we will need a leader". Herohero announced. Meanwhile everyone looked at each other for volunteers.
" I vote my husband!" Said Unity.
"Dear?!"
"Come on! If anyone can do it it's you, and I think it's fair we follow the strongest. After all you are omega level" she said raising an eyebrow.
" last time I was leader things didn't go so well".
" I agree! I nominate myself as leader and Pero as my second!" Ulbert yelled. Pero just looked at him in bewilderment.
"What?! Why me? I'm not leadership material". Pero responded.
"You wanted to be omega level. You've got to deal with the punches that come with it." Ulbert said to Pero while sounding smug. Pero gave in and accepted his new role reluctantly.
"Ugh I suppose I'll join in. Besides, someone has to keep you in check." Said Infinyrex.
"Then it's settled. Ulbert, infinyrex and peroroncino are the ones we blame if something goes wrong". Joked bukubukuchagama.
"Pretty much" mused herohero.
"First things first, we need to build up a defensive perimeter around the castle! I'll be in charge of helping to do just that." Said the insectoid.
" And I believe that if I can use magic. So can we. We must learn how to use our spells through practice. Get stronger. Study up." Ulbert exclaimed.
"My game character was built for combat so I think I'll have to train to build up my real skills and I think anyone with the same build should do the same!" The bird man said nervously as he wasn't used to leadership roles.
Everyone agreed and began preparations. They also discussed that since this was their new home now they had to protect it. And the npc's living with them, they needed to protect them as well. Everyone knew their new responsibility and took it seriously. The next day no one would party, only prepare for the oncoming battles they'd have to endure.

The next few days they prepared, trained, and studied. Though they've never seen it first hand. Or experienced it. In the coming years they learned the meaning of the word… WAR.
Monsters kept coming and getting stronger each time after the first month. The heteromorphic group learned new spells on top of that with the resources provided in the castle.
The castle had a library that was stock full of spells and strategic war books. They quickly adapted.
Some realized they weren't immune to being injured and as a result feared death which only served as a motivator to get stronger and smarter.

5 years have passed by and they recently lost a small island to goliaths. Only to reclaim it using powerful earth spells.
Everyone training and learning in their own field of expertise and what their class can allow.
It was a fairly easy thing for them since their bodies were practically made for it. Almost as if they've done it all their lives. And with new bodies came new minds. Their minds worked faster and memorized things at a glance.
For the fighter class. Combat was easy for them. It was practically ingrained in them. They learned new techniques through sparring. Truly, 'intelligent muscle' was a fascinating thing. Pero and nishikenrai sparred almost daily though both knew defeat at the hands of Infinyrex.

15 years passed. They learned a while back that they could not leave this dimension. When they tried to fly away. They somehow ended up back to the islands. They were trapped. When they tried to fly upwards or downwards they ended up in a loop returning to the islands. There was no escape.
They all chose to use their game names to address each other. After all, they don't look like their old names.

20 years has passed since they were transported. They finally destroyed the spawn point. Rebuilding was the easy part. Soon they found themselves living luxurious. Peaceful lives.
They held celebrations once more. Celebrated holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays from their old world.
There was also a daunting truth they all realized. The kids, vortex and the draconian girl yamaiko brought with her 'alpha'. Never aged.
Not once have they aged or grown even an inch since they arrived in this world. No matter how many birthdays came after the destruction of the spawn point.
The others noticed the same in themselves. Perhaps they aged slower. Either that or they were immortal. Still the smart of the group decided they should not let all the power they've been gifted get to their heads.
For the kids not aging. It was hard on the parents and the ones looking after them. Though it would have been every parent's dream for their kids to never grow up, this was different.

30 years have passed. By this time just like every other time. They had given up on the idea of ever returning to their old world. They weren't angry or sad about it. A land of magic was far better than being slaves and powerless in another corrupted world.
They all enjoyed themselves in this new realm. They all picked up hobbies and learned new things thanks to the vastness of their library left behind by the previous owners. Books and books of almost every subject. They were never bored.
Though they missed television. The crime and whodunnit novels offered them the same excitement.
Some just indulged themselves in new crafts, creating new games and practicing their magic. Gaining wisdom and knowledge. In preparation they were ever attacked again. They'd be prepared in every way possible.
Their leaders ensured they were protected along with the npc's whom have taught them skills as well.
It has been awhile since they've fought foes on the spawn point level. But they would watch out for it. They became godlike beings in every sense of the word and would ensure that what they have is protected.
Would they ever encounter another threat again? Was on everyone's mind.

'Yawn!' An avian awoke in his chambers with a female in his bed.
" What to do today?"
" Well you already did me so might as well do something just as productive" joked ankoro the anthropomorphic rough collie.
"Well I guess I could spar with nishikenrai assuming he's not at the library".
These two weren't a couple. But after being trapped in the dimension for so long. Certain urges were hard to hide. So proposals were set. Friends with benefits. And a while back. A few members joined factions. Ankoro happened to be in Pero's faction along with other animal based members, with functioning organs.
Pero walked around his home that was located on one of the islands surrounding the castle. This one had a nice small lake view. It looked Greek in appearance with marble architecture, but nonetheless he could not complain compared to his old apartment he couldn't remember.
Pero showered. Put his clothes on. And flew away to the castle. Being able to fly became the norm for him though his new body is not without its conveniences. The others felt the same.
Ulbert awoke in his dormitory quarters in his own pocket dimension he brought with him. The abyssal hell. Put on his clothes after showering. Met with his butler Abaddon who had his breakfast ready.
As soon as he finished he left his pocket dimension to his office in the kingdom of NIM. Ready to get started on his duties.
Infinyrex in his bedroom awoke next to his wife of 65 years and still strong. Trying to not wake her up. Got up from the bed. If he could kiss her forehead. He would, though it was hard now with mandibles for lips.
He went to visit his son who was still reading the same book from yesterday. How unfortunate that his species didn't require sleep.
He donned the armor the npc's made for him that closely resembled his old one back in Yggdrasil. And proceeded to his office at the castle.
Soon all three leaders met in the meeting room.
" Okay, rundown time. Are the npc's misbehaving, or is today the day we sit tabula down and gently explain that 'dabbling in witchcraft' stopped being a phase three blood rituals ago?" Commented Pero.
"Nothing of the sort. Just the usual. Ways to improve our performances in combat and strategy" continued Infinyrex.
"You want strategy? Go talk to Punito. He's practically invincible at all our board games"
" While we're on that. I'd like to discuss that my faction has found many discoveries in magical theory and magical concepts research." Replied Ulbert. "I will share this information with you all at the next meeting once I get Tabula and Garnet's report".
" Well, success after success. I don't even know why we even have these meetings. Other than to catch up."
"It's not just that Pero. We need to know what we're working with should the need ever arise when we must face another threat to our home" the knight spoke proudly.
With that. The meeting was concluded and the trio returned to get on with whatever they chose to occupy their day or their eternity.

'God it feels so great getting up late. And best of all if your boss is your best friend!'
The omega level angel was one of the many that indulged in some of the luxuries his newfound power granted.
" Lord Lucifer was my performance acceptable to you?" Stated a gorgeous summoned angel that laid bare in the bed.
" Indeed it was. Thank you. I was able to have a good rest last night thanks to your intervention".
" Your thanks are wasted on me master. I was summoned at your command and I devote myself to you entirely."
" Good to know".
'Man last night was amazing! Not only did me and the other parties at hero's bar, but I got to go home to sleep with a stunning angel for the fifth time this month and was ten times more hotter than my ex wife! Wait, why am I talking about that old hoe bag? I gotta refocus! I'm part of Ulbert's faction, his second in command, if my bud needs something. I'm there.'
'At this point we're already the best faction compared to that fugly bug and that perv bird'.
Lucifer then walked to his nice marble slab, gold encrusted bathroom. looked in his mirror.
"You are goddamned Lucifer Morningstar. Omega level. Angel summoner and expert golem maker. You are already the best compared to the others that don't have your status".
He stared longer into the mirror gazing at his new body. Shirtless. He was quite muscular in a way he'd only seen in magazines. Though white skinned he couldn't complain about anything else.
" Time to get ready. I'm sure Ulbert already needs me to attend to some paperwork or research for creating NIM's first golem."
Lucifer was proud of his job as Ulbert's second in command. He loved his job as it was everything he'd ever wanted. And Ulbert used his abilities well so he didn't feel exploited rather appreciated and important. He made sure that his vices would never affect his performance at work. He would maintain his professionalism as this time it was worth it.
'Suit and tie ready. Alright time to get going'.

"Goddamn dis ting, stay still da, I — fuck! Blyat, goddamnit, stupid piece of shit!". One of the blacksmiths of the kingdom was loudly cursing at his new creation.
" Hey Take!". Amano called out holding a perfectly newly made sword in his claw.
Takemikazuchi then looked at his black smithing rival menacingly and flipped his middle finger at him.
"You know… vimen hev dee-zeez een zeh cooch, yah? En eet ees naimd aft-er yor spee-shees." Take yelled hoping the Crab man would get the hint.
Amano just turned away. And Take looked pleased with the crabs reaction.
"Hey mate, ow ya goin'? Still 'avin' scraps with that crab, eh?". Nishikenrai announced once coming in to visit his friend.
"He doez not hev to be so smug about eet. But forget zat crustacean —vat is go-eeng on vith you, eh? Ve still go-eeng to ze bar to-night?"
"C'mon, ya know I'd nevah skip a chance ta get proper pissed."
Both left the workshop.

"C'mon Vortex! You've got to catch me for it to be tag!" Yelled the draconian.
" It's kind of hard when you can fly and I have stubby legs!".
Both kids were playing in some of the islands that had architecture that hadn't been inhabited yet. They thought about playing there before one of their uncles or aunties decided to move in.
They ran around the place and found themselves in a small abandoned looking temple which they recognize as the place where uncle nishikenrai had his fight with that giant snake.
They just looked around.
"Let's get out of here Tex. I don't think we should be in here" said the concerned Alpha.
"Alpha. We're practically in our 40s. We're mature enough to know if we find something dangerous and report it to this who know. And on top of that. We're the best students in Auntie yamaiko's class". He said proudly.
"We're the ONLY students in auntie yamaiko's class!." She said matter correcting him.
"Let's just take one quick look." They walked around the abandoned temple. Looking at the ruins in awe.
" Pretty sure Uncle Pero might turn it into a night club with uncle blue planet bar tending."
A bright reflective light soon hit the corner of Tex's eye. Something hidden under the ruin.
They both proceeded to remove the rocks and rummage through it. To find a brass gold plated ring that extended to the other knuckles.
"Ugh! I only have three fingers and none of them fit into this."
"Mine neither. If this is magical. Perhaps we should take it to Uncle Tabula."
" Yeah, maybe you're right, Alpha. Maybe we found a great discovery which we might get credit for. Either that or it's just some dirty ring left behind by some monster."

In Tabula's lab
"Continue with the vial production. And give me that report on the cash shop items and how we can replicate them. I need all of those things in my office by this evening".
"Yes lord!".
Tabula just finished addressing his fellow mind flayer summons. Each one specializing in another field of magical research.
"Uncle Tabula!" Two kids ran up to him catching his attention.
"Children. You're not supposed to be here. Let's go to my office. I have some cookies there." The mention of treats excited the kids.
In Tabula's office
"So what can I do for you children? Or did you just want to advance your magic learning?".
"We were playing in that ruined temple where uncle nish fought that snake monster. And we found this hidden in the ruins and we thought you might know something about it". Vortex handing over the ring to tabula.
Upon examination of the runes. Tabula was shocked at what they were. What this was.
"I'll have to look into it further. I don't know what it is but I can find out and let you both know if it is valuable or not". He lied to the children.
"Okay! But just remember that we found it so don't take all the credit for it ok?"
"I promise" he said genuinely. Soon after they left his office. Leaving him to test and examine the artifact.
' Have we finally found it?. Have we finally found a way to other worlds? I should test it before I decide to waste the council's time'.
Wasting no time. He put the ring on. Tried to imagine his old world. Nothing happened, he then tried again but thinking of no world at all. And a bright light of rainbow colors appeared in the form of a rectangular door. And tabula laughed maniacally.
"Yes! Yes! If we can't go back to our old world it's fine. But another that's something else worth considering!".
He used the message skill to call the council members for an emergency meeting. And began to head out himself.

"So you're saying that this ring is a gate ring that can open to another realm?". Ulbert asked.
"Yes. I tested it myself but didn't go through it. It was discovered this morning by vortex and alpha at the old ruins we planned on making that night club. Perhaps it was left behind by one of the sky keepers?".
"Perhaps. Nonetheless it does resemble rings that I recall at that party. I thought they were just accessories".
" You say you tested it right Tabula? Then we should first study it before proceeding to explore its contents. If the realm it opens to has resources for us. Then we'd be remiss not to try". Ulbert said.
"Or it could expose us to danger. Have you thought about that Ulbert? If there's something dangerous on the other side then we should avoid it at all costs". Recoiled infinyrex.
"As much as I hate to admit it Ulbert. He's right. We'd probably be doing more harm than good." Pero responded.
"You're both correct on that matter. I apologize for that. The idea of increasing our resources got to me. Very well then. Tabula, create a research team for this gate ring. I wasn't defenses in case something comes out of it. Have test subjects to test the safety of going in and out of it. And anything I fail to mention to ensure that we remain safe. You can call forth any of our comrades if you believe their skills are necessary. Have resurrection magic on hand if anything. I'll summon a demon team for you. You are to report any findings to Lucifer. I'll inform him on the matter and to assist if needed."
"Thank you Ulbert. I'll do all I can to adhere to safety protocols and collect any information if it's safe to do so in the aforementioned realm."
"So what should we do if it's safe to cross over to that world? Should we just say that we come in peace and take their cows for milk? I miss milk with my cookies" asked Pero.
"First we confirm that the realms environment isn't harmful to us. Collect info on the world. Creatures and such. See if there's a form of civilization or authority. Remain anonymous while doing so. And see where to go from there. That sound good to you Infinyrex? Or do you have anything else to add?". Ulbert closing his argument.
Infinyrex had nothing else to say.
"Very well then. I suggest we inform our factions and npc's of what has happened so if anything. They can be prepared to defend themselves."
"Let's have our military on standby just in case". Infinyrex added.
"Good idea. I'll call forth Lucifer to summon as many dominion angels to surround the lab."
The trio agreed to as many safety precautions as needed to maintain the veneer of peace in their realm. Still the idea of another world excited them to the ideas of many possibilities, those being resources they lacked. But it also wrought concern for they didn't know of the dangers that lay ahead.
They had finally found peace for years to come and they wanted to keep it that way.

Somewhere in the other realm.
" Your reports!" demanded a booming, powerful voice.
" Yes Lord!" said many figures in unison.
" Our sales in runecraft technology continue to skyrocket as they did all those years ago."
" I see. And what of the citizens living under my rule? And those of other kingdoms? Have there been any changes?".
" No lord. No changes have been seen. Many prejudices and chains of beliefs towards those of other races have no qualms with each other and rather there have been many proposals to include them in future celebrations. Thanks to the many treaties our kingdom has made possible." said a female.
"Excellent. And how goes the construction of the roads that go across the forest of Tob and to other kingdoms?"
