Chapter 41 - Ch 41: Truth and False

She was scheduled to stay in the hospital for another week for close observation. But for Leon, It was time to build. He stayed with her day and night. Everyday she would wait keenly for their story.

And slowly, Piece by piece...

A picture began to form in her mind. Her name was Mira Ashanmoore. An orphan... A girl with no past worth remembering. Even Leo, according to his words, didn't know much about it.

"She never liked talking about the orphanage," he had said once, casually. "So I didn't push her."

Now, the orphanage was closed. Empty... Locked.

Maybe it was painful... Maybe it was better forgotten. That thought comforted her. And Leon let it stay.

"Leo…" she called one evening, sitting beside him. He was gently braiding her hair, his fingers were careful and slow.

"How did we get married?"

Leon paused for a fraction of a second. Then continued.

"Oh…" he said lightly, as if recalling something simple. "I met my Mira at a party." A faint smile touched his lips.

"And I knew."

She turned slightly, listening.

"So I pursued you," he continued. "Proposed to you. And… you were impressed." A soft chuckle.

"You said yes. And we got married."

A pause.

"But you wanted it private. Just a small ceremony."

"Ahh…" she frowned slightly. "Why would I say that? You look like someone who would want a big wedding… I also..."

Leon's fingers stilled for a moment. Then resumed.

"Then we'll have one," he said, his voice softer now. "After you recover." A quiet hope slipped through.

"We'll get married again."

A beat.

"So this time… you can remember it."

Her expression softened. "I was actually sad…" she admitted quietly. "That I don't remember…"

Leon didn't wait.

"I'll make it better," he said, almost to himself. That very moment, he called James. The plan had already begun forming.

By now, she knew the names.

James.

Finn.

People she trusted; Because he trusted them.

"Mira…" Leon said later, pulling her into a gentle embrace. "Even when I tell you our story… I can't say everything at once."

His voice was calm, carefully measured. "So don't feel scared… or confused."

A pause.

"You can ask me anything. Anytime."

She nodded against him. Trusting him completely.

And Leon continued. Day by day, story by story.

Truth twisted and rewritten.

And she believed him... only him.

But among all the stories he told, one remained untouched.

Mumu.
