The daylight had long since begun to fade, leaving the roads washed in the muted blue-grey of a winter evening. Hours had slipped by without and each passing minute felt so much more unsettling than the last. Search teams had spread throughout the city and beyond, combing parks, woodland, abandoned buildings and roadsides, while others had spoken to anyone who might have seen Azaria after she disappeared from Genevieve's house. Every lead had ended the same way. Nothing. No confirmed sightings, no witnesses and no evidence that pointed them in the right direction.
