The warm morning sun filtered through the curtains of the master bedroom of the penthouse. Azaria slowly blinked her eyes open, stretching her arms out across the soft sheets. As her hand swept over the empty space beside her, reality quickly set in. Theon still wasn't there.
He had been away for several days now, completely occupied with urgent family business that required his full attention. Azaria knew he was incredibly busy, and she fully understood why he needed to be away at his pack. Yet, despite logically understanding the situation, she found herself missing him far more than she had ever expected. Now that she truly understood the significance of their bond, his absence felt like a lingering ache in her chest.
Azaria sat up slowly, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. She looked around the room, listening to the heavy silence hanging in the air.
"It's far too quiet in here," she whispered to herself.
