Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Lake of Life, Transformed Soft Bones Rabbit

Chapter 36: Lake of Life, Transformed Soft Bones Rabbit

Deep within the core area of the Star Dou Great Forest.

Not far from the Lake of Life.

In a quiet clearing in the woods, a wooden house stood abruptly.

A low picket fence enclosed the front of the house, and inside the yard grew clusters of unknown wildflowers, blooming vibrantly in red and white.

Beside the flowerbeds, a small plot of land had been cleared, where lush green carrot greens grew neatly.

In the core area of the Star Dou Great Forest, a forbidden zone that even Titled Douluo dared not enter lightly, the appearance of such a human dwelling, with its rustic, pastoral charm, seemed exceptionally abrupt and eerie.

Just then, the door of the wooden house creaked open, and a woman walked out.

She appeared to be about thirty years old, her long, jet-black hair tied loosely behind her head with a wooden hairpin, a few stray strands falling by her ears, gently stirred by the breeze.

Her features were delicate and gentle, her brows and eyes carrying a sense of simplicity and tranquility. She wore simple homespun clothes, and her skin, while not fair, radiated a healthy glow.

In this appearance, she resembled an ordinary farm woman.

The woman crouched by the vegetable patch, bending down to pull a few ripe carrots and placing them into a vegetable basket.

"Xiao Wu!" the woman suddenly called out, her voice clear and ringing, carrying far through the mountain forest. "Stop playing, come back quickly!"

This woman, dressed like a village wife, was none other than Xiao Wu's mother, a one-hundred-thousand-year Soft Bones Rabbit who had successfully transformed.

After transforming, she had gone to the human World, hiding in a small mountain village, where she successfully cultivated to maturity before returning to the Star Dou Great Forest to care for her daughter, Xiao Wu.

A moment later, a dull, rumbling sound came from the distance.

The ground began to tremble slightly, the leaves of the trees rustled, and the birds in the forest took flight in alarm.

Before long, a massive figure ran out from the dense forest.

It was a giant ape-like beast, astonishingly huge, like a moving small hill, with a pair of golden eyes resembling two lanterns.

It was none other than one of the overlords of the core area, the Titan Giant Ape, Er Ming.

Yet at this moment, atop the head of this overlord-level Soul Beast stood a fluffy Soft Bones Rabbit. It was snow-white all over, with crystal-clear pink eyes and long ears that twitched slightly.

This Soft Bones Rabbit was the not-yet-transformed Xiao Wu. Xiao Wu's age had already reached over ninety thousand years, just one step away from the one-hundred-thousand-year threshold.

In a few decades, she would be able to transform into human form like her mother and step into the human World.

Soon, the Titan Giant Ape arrived beside the woman, crouching down like a docile pet. It emitted a low roar from its throat, seemingly acting spoiled, without any of the majesty of an overlord.

Xiao Wu also jumped down, landing on the ground. She twitched her ears, hopped around the woman twice, her pink eyes sparkling.

"Er Ming, you're taking her running wild again. What if you run into powerful human Soul Masters outside?" the woman scolded with a smile.

Er Ming scratched its head, emitting a low roar as if trying to defend itself.

"What did you say?" the woman asked, raising an eyebrow after hearing it. "You say that with you around, no one dares to bully Xiao Wu? You think you're so capable, huh?"

Er Ming puffed out its chest and pounded its chest with its fists, producing dull thuds, its roars filled with pride.

The woman shook her head with a smile, then reached out and tapped Xiao Wu's rabbit head: "And you too, all you know how to do is play all day."

Xiao Wu's front paws gestured rapidly, her mouth squeaking incessantly, her pink eyes wide as if arguing her case.

"Alright, alright, I can't win against you." A helpless yet doting smile appeared on the woman's face as she reached out to stroke Xiao Wu's head.

Xiao Wu hopped over to the woman's feet, rubbed her head against her calf, and looked at the carrots in the vegetable basket, her nose twitching.

The woman scolded with a smile: "You little glutton, the carrots haven't been washed yet, they're covered in mud."

But Xiao Wu just squeaked twice, snatched a carrot directly, held it in her arms, and began crunching away, eating with a satisfied expression.

Watching this scene, the woman shook her head but didn't stop her: "You, when you transform in the future, don't be so sloppy."

Xiao Wu ignored her and just kept eating the carrot on her own.

Er Ming lay outside the picket fence, its massive body like a small hill.

It rested its chin on its hands, its huge eyes half-closed, lazily watching the scene in the yard, a low sound coming from its throat, as if it were laughing.

One human and two beasts, in this forbidden zone surrounded by fierce beasts, got along extremely harmoniously.

Just then, the surface of the nearby lake began to surge.

Ripples spread outward from the center of the lake, and beneath the water, a huge dark shadow could be vaguely seen rising.

The shadow grew larger and clearer.

The next moment, the water surface suddenly exploded, and huge waves shot into the sky.

A huge bull's head emerged from the water, with a pair of giant scimitar-like horns on its head. Its body was like a giant snake, completely covered in cyan scales, and its pair of dark green vertical pupils were as cold as ice.

It was none other than the other overlord of the core area of the Star Dou Great Forest, the one-hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast, the Sky Azure Bull Python, Da Ming.

"Aunt Rou," the Sky Azure Bull Python said in a deep voice, "some human powerhouses have entered the core area and are heading towards us."

The originally warm atmosphere instantly froze.

Upon hearing this, Er Ming's massive body suddenly tensed, a fierce light flashing in its golden eyes. It pounded its chest with its fists, emitting a low roar from its throat.

It was as if it were saying, Humans? Those damned Soul Masters! Daring to come to the core area to seek death, I'll go crush them all!

The smile on the woman's face faded, and she stood up. She looked up towards the depths of the dense forest, her gentle eyes suddenly turning cold.

Holding the restless Xiao Wu, she asked in a deep voice: "How many? What is their strength?"

Da Ming said in a deep voice: "Five people, one of whom has an extremely terrifying aura. Er Ming and I may not be his match."

"What, even you and Er Ming are not his match!" The woman's brows furrowed tightly, a trace of unease faintly rising in her heart.

She knew Er Ming and Da Ming's strength all too well.

But if even Da Ming and the others were not a match, just how strong must that human be?

"Aunt Rou, hurry up and hide with Xiao Wu," Da Ming said in a deep voice. "Er Ming, protect Aunt Rou well. I will stop them!"

Er Ming snorted, exhaling two puffs of white air from its nostrils. It let out a low, unwilling roar, but still nodded.

"No," the woman refused decisively. "Da Ming, it's too dangerous for you to stay alone. If we leave, we leave together!

The Star Dou Great Forest is so big, we know every inch of the terrain. As long as we hide and don't show ourselves, they won't be able to find us."

However, Da Ming did not answer.

It turned its head, staring fixedly at the dense forest in the distance, and said in a deep voice: "It's too late, they have already discovered us..."
