It arrived at precisely six o'clock in the morning as an absolute, dead weight across the central telegraph wires of the Eastern Maritime Guild. The massive glass data-tubes overhead, which had spent weeks spinning with a brilliant, blue luminescent energy, gave a single, metallic click and froze, their internal copper code-wheels locking into a rigid, non-negotiable standstill.

The offshore syndicates hadn't launched another speculative short-squeeze. They had simply closed their books, pulling their baseline silver reserves completely out of the common pool and leaving the Southern Trust's international transaction network spinning in an empty vacuum.
