The flashing blue luminescent tubes overhead, which had spent ninety-nine chapters vibrating with volatile market fluctuations, dropped into a solid, unblinking green line.

The offshore syndicates had not attempted a desperate, last-minute currency dump. The Western Trustees had stopped transmitting their short-sale notifications entirely, and the Eastern Maritime Guild's heavy blockading ironclads remained perfectly motionless at the harbor mouth, their steam boilers venting low, rhythmic sighing sounds into the cool twilight air.
