It was about twenty or thirty minutes into talking with others that the strings stopped playing and someone came onto the stage to make an announcement. By this time, me, Rosy, Nabos, and Ellen were joined by three more people—two of them actually a pair of squirrels—and I felt like I was experiencing something I never did back in school: hanging out in a 'group' of people.
"Ladies and Gentlemen. May I have your attention please?"
We all turned to see the host, and it was a tall humanoid robot figure, but his voice was deep and rich, not metallic. His skin glowed in gold, contrasting nicely with his spotlessly black tuxedo, which, for a moment, made me think of Senne but then I quickly shook off the thought.
'Happy thoughts only, Bree—happy thoughts,' I told myself.
There was an excited murmur in the crowd for a moment, but everyone soon quietened, politely.
"Welcome to the Soft Reset Social. We hope you are enjoying your evening so far."
